Singita Boulders Lodge, South Africa, Monday [Morning and Early Afternoon]

The sun rose over the lodge in a stunning display of colors though without the musical accompaniment at way too early in the morning, but everyone was up anyway, right? It was time for the very first game drive around the park, and an early start was necessary to see the animals at the watering holes.

Fortunately in a lodge this nice, coffee was provided.

Good morning, Fandom! It's only 63 degrees (or 17, if you're a local) as you wake up, so bring a jacket along with your hat, camera, water and binoculars (and all the sunscreen--trust us) on the drive, but it'll warm up to a comfortable 79 (or26) by midafternoon. Ready to see some lions?

Hanna glanced up, thinking for a slit second about Ian. Then she remembered he wasn't anything like Ian. "Hey, Anakin."

Of course she remembered his actual name as well. She nodded at a seat across from her. "You can sit if you want."

Well, it wasn't like he'd had anywhere specific in mind to sit, so he dropped into the chair and started carving out a large chunk of the ham steak on his plate.

"Thanks. Hanna, right?" He tended to take remembering people's names seriously. Actually, that applied to everything. "Did you go on the safari thing?"

Hanna scoffed. "Please, like I'm gonna get up that earlier on the first day of vacation."

She took a sip of coffee. "Did you?"

Anakin shook his head. "I was up," he acknowledged, "but I wasn't that interested in going. I don't think animals are all that fascinating."

A tight-lipped scowl crossed his face for a moment. "That's my brother's idea of fun, not mine."

Hanna smiled. "Yeah, I'm not that into the whole animal thing either. But I'll go maybe once just to say I went on a safari and to see the looks on my friends' faces when I tell them."

"It's kind of a big deal, isn't it?" Anakin asked. Probably a lot like visiting Ithor would be back home . . . well, used to be, anyway, before the Yuuzhan Vong bioagents destroyed it. "You've come all this way, so might as well go at least once while you're here. I'm pretty sure I saw a nighttime one on the schedule, too. It'd save you the trouble of having to wake up early."

Hanna considered that. "That's actually not a bad idea. Go on a safari in the evening, sleep in or go to the spa in the morning. I like this plan."

Anakin managed a half-grin. "It seemed like a solid idea to me. I'm probably going to avoid it myself. Wherever my family goes, something tends to try to eat us."
