Hotel in Alexandria: New Year's Eve

The hotel was dressed up to the nines to welcome in the new year. From the ball room to the formal garden overlooking the ocean, everywhere was awash in new year's celebrations.

There was plenty of room to party, and plenty of rooms for when the partying was done. Add that to the open bar, and it might be one heck of an interesting night.

"She went after Angelus by herself," Wyatt grumbled. "He could've killed her."

"She did what?" Parker's very legitimate threats against Wyatt when wheeee by the wayside as she focused on this new thing to have a heart attack about. "The hell was she thinking?! And why didn't you stop her!"

"It's not like she say, 'Hey, honey, I'm going to go try to stake the evil vampire by myself, back in time for dinner' or something!" Wyatt protested. "I sure as hell wouldn't have let her go. I didn't know until she got back. She was a little banged up but he didn't bite her or anything at least."

Which might have been a relief to hear, but from her own exposures to Angelus, Parker knew it was never that simple. "Okay. Good. Fine. And yes, you get to put her in a closet if she tries that again. But first?" She finished her drink, and slammed it down on the bar and got up from her seat. "I'm going to scare some goddamn sense into her. Jesus."

"Angelus made . . . comments to me about her," Wyatt said quietly. "I don't think he would have just killed her." He'd had a nightmare or two about that in the past weeks.

Parker stopped, her fingers tightening on the bar-top, knuckles turning white as met Wyatt's eyes. She remembered Kitty, and Logan and Rory and Veronica's close calls two years before, and the long, long list of his victims from her research. "If he'd had time... no. It would have been very ugly," she said, keeping her voice level through an effort of will. "What was she trying to accomplish alone? Did she even say?"

"She owed it to him as a friend to stop him," Wyatt said. "She didn't want some gung-ho stranger staking him."

"Aaaahhhhh." Parker kept the frustration down to a small snarl, then shook her head vehemently. "God. And set herself up to almost get killed in the process." She rubbed at her eyes, then took a breath. "Right. I'm calm. I'm good. I'm gonna kill her. Back in a bit."

Isabel was going to kill him, but. . . . Wyatt raised his glass. "Go get her," he said. "I don't want her to ever do something like that again."

After talking with Parker (http://community.livejournal.com/fh_trips/18284.html?thread=3393132#t3393132), Isabel made her way over to Wyatt and raised an eyebrow. "So I've just been throughly chewed out by Parker over my run-in with Angelus. I wonder who told her?"

Wyatt winced and tried to look innocent. "It was on the radio," he said. Which wasn't a lie. He thought. He could be wrong.

"She was in Hong Kong. I don't think radio was a priority for her. Also," she said, poking Wyatt lightly in the ribs. "She didn't say anything about it when we talked on the phone, or earlier. It was only after she talked to you."

"She talked to a lot of people," Wyatt said, trying to look cute. "She's popular and all."

Isabel wasn't buying it for a minute. "You're lucky you're cute," she told him, kissing his cheek. "I promised her I wouldn't do anything that dumb again."

"It just kind of slipped out," Wyatt said. "I do that sometimes. Just ask Chris."

"I'll keep that in mind," Isabel grinned. "I suppose I should be grateful you didn't mention it to my parents. That would have really had them twitching."

"I know better than that," Wyatt said. "Telling parents could mean getting pulled from school."

"And you wouldn't just visit me in Roswell?" she teased. "It would be out of sight, out of mind?'

"Well, it gets cold in the dorms at night," Wyatt grinned. "I need someone to snuggle with or I'll freeze to death."

"I knew it. You only wanted me for my body," Isabel mock pouted.

"It's so soft and warm and . . . snuggly!" Wyatt protested.

"You're rather snuggly yourself. But I don't think I'd use the word soft," she said, thinking of Wyatt's rather lovely abs. Except as the words left her mouth she realized the double meaning and facepalmed.

Wyatt's grin broadened and he waggled his eyebrows. "Definitely not when I'm snuggling with you," he said.

"We can snuggle later," Isabel said, holding out a hand. "For now? How about a dance?"

"I like that idea," Wyatt said, taking her hand.
