The Copacabana Hotel was certainly... statuesque. The front facade stood high and formal in the middle of lovely Rio, though, like a mullet, all the fun was in the back - at the beachside, where fun and sun would be waiting come tomorrow.

The Fandom contingent had managed to get their hands on some beachside rooms, though it was probably best not to ask who or what had made this much money change hands. Because it wasn't like anyone running this gig had any interesting off-shore accounts...

The deluxe beach view rooms have stunning views of the world-famous Copacabana Beach. The adults' rooms even feature Juliet-style balconies! All have king or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms which feature a tub with shower, air conditioning and high-speed internet for those students who would get twitchy without it. Peter.

The magnificent swimming pool at the Copacabana Palace has long drawn stars and royalty alike to sunbathe, swim and socialize. Everyone from Carmen Miranda to Rod Stewart has been seen soaking up the sun around the Copacabana pool, which is open 24 hours a day.

This sophisticated urban sanctuary has a contemporary design and features seven treatment rooms, two dual treatment suites, a fitness room, hair salon, sauna, steam bath and relaxation area.

This is the highlight of the Rio Carnival, the must-see show which has made Rio de Janeiro the Carnival capital of the world. The samba schools belonging to this group are especially magnificent and sumptuous, and the two nights are similar in terms of set-up: six of the 12 best samba schools march on both Sunday and Monday. Doors open to the Sambodrome at 1700, opening ceremony's at 2000, and the parade starts at 2100. You can even buy costumes and march with one of the schools in the parade. After the parade's over, the action spills into the street where thousands of people who didn't have tickets to the parade turn the area into the world's biggest open-air bar.

When the hard working people of Rio de Janeiro leave their offices in historic downtown they head to the restaurants and bars beyond the Arco do Teles. Join them in killing time, enjoying some cold drinks and soaking in the atmosphere in ancient cobblestone streets, and make sure not to miss out on one of the all-you-can eat churrascarias.

The Rio carnival: probably more classy than the Dutch carnival (I think I liked it better when it was only the south; the parades interrupt my gaming time with their loudness).

Yeah, Luke could get used to this Rio thing. The weather was great, the city looked fun and this hotel was awesome.

He tossed his bag on the bed nearest to the window. His roommate could just deal with it.

Bruce turned 18 today. 18 happened to be the legal drinking age in Brazil. Bruce didn't drink, so he wasn't doing anything for himself aside from his usual ginger ale. And he didn't feel like throwing a big party on the first day of vacation. So he decided to be slightly more subtle and had a little chat with the manager.

Tonight, drinks at the historic Bar Luiz were on Bruce Wayne. It was his birthday gift to everyone else.

It was fairly late when Ender finally got out of the hotel and headed into the pool area. It had been a long few weeks, and all the sleeping in the world didn't bring him any level of real peace with himself.

But by the time he got there, the pool was quieter than during the daylight hours, and he could slip easily into it and watch the water ripple.

Then he started to swim.

So far, upon arrival, Peter had done three things: 1) put his bags down; 2) set up his laptop, and 3) gone back into the hallway to find a soda machine, because he was thirsty.

He had stared at his options for a few moments before deciding that, well, if he was going to be in a foreign country, he might as well get the local soft drink. At least he'd be able to say he was getting into the culture of the place.

So he bought a can of Guarana and headed back into his room, where he sat down behind his laptop, opened the can, and got back to work.

Well, naturally Bruce ended up rooming with one of the very nice girls whose acquaintance he'd made last week. As Bruce settled in, he decided to try having positive thoughts that it wouldn't get too awkward. But he was also pragmatic and chose the bed by the window in case he needed to make a fast escape.

Yes, he was on the third floor. So?

Damn you, now I have a craving for Guaraná.

I just find it hilarious that it's canon. Both Peter's slavish devotion to 'if you go to a foreign country, you'd better drink the local soft drink' and him being into Guarana while in Brazil. IDK.

Lex tossed his bag on the nearest bed, and started going through it for some lighter clothes. Coats and long sleeves weren't really suited for this weather.

Figures Jace would pick the bar that had references he couldn't recognize. Whatever, he didn't have to know about movie references when there were hot Brazilian chicks to check out.

The thing about being stubborn enough to keep wearing leather in a place like Rio was that you needed to drink a lot more than usual if you didn't want to keel over. Which was how Cara found herself in the bar.

"Evening," she said. "I know you said you'd be easy to find, but I wasn't even looking."

Bruce would have gotten that greeting even if she'd actually known it was his birthday.

Tara wasn't sure if she should go to Surreal's room, or to her own.

In the end, she went with her own, on the theory it would be easier to move herself than to move all her stuff. Cassidy was a witch; hopefully the girl wouldn't be too weirded out by the entire situation.

"Clearly, I'm a man of my word," Bruce laughed. "I figured it would be appropriate to spend the first night here out on the town."

As far as Quinn was concerned, the room assignments had to be a bad joke. Because clearly no one would actually expect her and Rebecca to share a space. She shouldn't be punished this way just because she had forgotten to get in a room request.

She claimed the bed closer to the windows, hoping to make the best of it. She could be mature about this. And if Rebecca a) actually showed up and b)couldn't ... well, Quinn hoped Jack and Puck wouldn't mind a third roommate for the week.
