Blair shrugged. "Really. You'd expect better from the museum."

Nadia shook her head. "Very disappointing." She looked around. "Oo, lock picks!"

"Hmm...I can see a use for those back at school." He coughed. "Uh, I mean, you know...if I get locked out of my room."

Nadia tilted her head towards him, but didn't take her eyes off the video screen on the ceiling that was showing various types of lockpicks and lockpicking techniques. "Do you know how to pick locks?"

Re: International Spy Museum

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair shrugged and watched the video with her. "Yeah. We didn't stay around most places long enough for Naomi to make me a spare key, so I learned how to pick locks in order to get inside."

"Want me to teach you sometime?"

Nadia grinned. "No need. I've had . . . some practice with lock picking." And pocket picking, and all those other dubious behaviors that would be advantageous for a spy to have. . . .

The video switched to surveilance devices, which weren't as interesting because they weren't as hands on. Nadia glanced around again, and spotted the entrance to the airduct crawl. "That's neat," she said, pointing.

Blair was interested in the surveillance devices and how it wouldn't be needed if someone had extra sensitive hearing...but he looked to wear Nadia was pointing.

"We crawl through there?"

Nadia nodded happily. "Like they do in the movies. See?" She pointed up at the ceiling, where the duct was visible running overhead. Loud clunks and giggles could be heard from it. "You have to try to be quiet, I think."

Blair stared up at the ceiling and then down at the floor and back up again. "Yeah, right. How bout this? You go crawl through the ceiling and I'll be waiting at the end like a good like floor-bound spy should."

Nadia was about to reply when a dark haired man walked by.

A tall man with dark hair passes by Blair and Nadia while talking on the phone.

"No I don't think you can be in love with two people at the same time. However, I did have the same intense feelings for both Sporty and Posh Spice."

Nadia was about to respond to Blair's chicken-y statement when she noticed the man walk by.

She might have even licked her lips.

It was but a moment's passing fancy, accompanied by an odd recognition, like deja vu or something from a dream, then she turned back to Blair.

"Him," she said, relating them both back to their conversation at the Hoover building. "Prime example of hot guy."

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair stared at the man and tilted his head back and forth a bit. "If you say so, Nadia. But he looks pretty average to me."

He tilted his head again. "Is he hotter than me?"

Nadia stared glanced at the retreating man's ass, then looked at Blair. Then back at the man for several moments. Then back at Blair.

"He's got the whole older man appeal going on?" She didn't really want to hurt anyone's feelings. "You're hot in different ways?"

Oh. And now she's just called Blair hot. Just a friend. Just a friend.

Re: International Spy Museum

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair looked at the man's ass as well and shrugged. "Maybe I'll grow into my hotness."

"So...are you going to climb through a vent?"

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-02-20 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Nadia had managed to forget the vent. "Yep! Are you sure you don't want to come? It has to be completely safe,"

Re: International Spy Museum

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nadia, for me the words 'safe' and 'up in air' don't belong in the same sentence." Blair blushed a little and shrugged. "But I'll be waiting at the end for you!"

Nadia raised her eyebrow. Blair had a thing about heights? Whatever. "Okay, see you on the other side." She walked quickly over to the entrance to the duct and up the stairs.

Crawling silently through ducts was an art. One Nadia didn't have yet, much as she tried. The metal on the bottom popped in and out a few times.

She paused at one of the grates in the side and peered out, spotting Blair. She stopped there for awhile, curious to see what Blair would do if she didn't come back out for awhile.

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair watched Nadia nervously as she went into the duct before turning and looking around at the people around him. It was sorta nice that he didn't have to worry about impressing her, because there was no way he was crawling up in that death trap. Speaking of...he looked up at the duct and studied it. There wasn't as many giggles and banging noises. Walking to wear some kids were crawling out he groaned. No Nadia. He tried to get the attention of a tour guide, but he was busy corraling several middle school kids and not interested in helping.

Finally Blair turned and walked up the stairs to the duct and inched his way in. "Nadia?" He wasn't sure why he was whispering...but it seemed appropriate. "Nadia...are you dead?"

Nadia had seen Blair head towards the stairs and suddenly thought of a way to get him through the duct. She waited for a group of younger kids to start trying to crawl by her and joined them, to mask the sound of her own journey. As she got out the other end, she heard Blair whispering into the vent . . . it sounded like from within it.

Excellent.

She ducked to one side to stay out of sight and waited for Blair to emerge, biting her lip to keep from laughing.

Blair heard movement up ahead and called out a little louder. "Nadia? Are you okay?" Crawling forward, he tried not to think of how high this was, or how far he could fall or pie. Because pie makes people heavier, yo.

As he crawled through the gate, he whispered, "Think light. Think light. Think light."

Nadia was ever so slightly worried by how nervous Blair sounded. . . . But figured the experience would be good for him. Weren't you supposed to confront your fears to get over them?

She stayed silent, now biting her lip to keep from reassuring him.

Choose someone else over her, would he?

Blair overhead the statement and shook his head. "Stick to being a one-woman man, dude. It's the only safe way to go."

Nadia absently thwapped Blair on the arm, still watching the man.

Blair rubbed his arm and shrugged. Sometimes...the truth hurt.
