Exploring the Jedi Temple [Friday morning into Saturday afternoon]

"This is the Jedi Temple," Anakin said, gesturing. A few Jedi walking past gave him a curious look. Anakin blushed. "Um, obviously. We'll be staying here for the night. You're free to wander around and explore. Your rooms will be down this corridor," he pointed, "and mine is with Master Kenobi on the other side of the Temple with the rest of the Masters and Padawans. In your room you'll find comlinks, maps, and translated lists of pretty normal words from English to Basic, which is what all the signs are in around here. Call me if you get lost, either in the Temple or out in Coruscant. It's a big planet and getting turned around is to be expected."

"Rory must be very pleased to be an aunt."

Obi-Wan was somewhat more nonplussed at the second picture. "Um. Clearly? What's the animal for?"

"Ah. Well." Obi-Wan strove to be diplomatic. "It's difficult for many beings to understand why the Jedi are, and how we do what we do. Searching for understanding is commendable." He eyed the bathrobe and plush animal again. "If somewhat...fuzzy."

Obi-Wan has no idea what Jello is, but he's pretty sure he's never seen something called a dragon look quite so opaque and jiggly. "Well, if nothing else, it's been a good preparation for facing the unexpected."

"I think I remember John from the costume party - we were comparing pants. But did I meet Aeryn?"

"Oh, yes, I do remember her now that my mun's checked the class entry," Obi-Wan recalled. "One of the ones who seemed to have some familiarity with military life."

He peered closely at Anakin. "You're really going to miss your friends when you leave, aren't you?"

"You've known this was coming for a while," Obi-Wan said, not unkindly. "In the time you have left with them, don't dwell on your regrets for the future parting."

"We could both do worse." Obi-Wan's voice came out a little gruff, as it often did when they spoke of Qui-Gon. "A wiser Jedi there has not been for many and many years. Master Yoda has said so himself."

Obi-Wan considered. "Better to remember them. Our friends don't die just because we leave them, Anakin. What you learned from them, what strength and grace they gave you stays with you."

"Master Qui-Gon would've reminded you that they're part of the living Force." He gestured around them. "And because it is everywhere, so they too will always be with you."

"Not exactly, no," Obi-Wan agreed. "But from a certain point of view...?" He shrugged. "Have you ever gone to your friend Aeryn for advice?"

"The next time you would go to her, meditate on her. Remember your friend, how she has advised you in the past, and think on her as she still is, alive and part of the Force as you are. Then, let the Force guide you," Obi-Wan explained.

"It's not the same, but if you know your friends well, you may find that you can hear their voices, sometimes in surprising ways." He gave a small smile.

"Just like that, only with less lecturing, I'd imagine. I still hear Qui-Gon sometimes." He frowned. "Of course, he's usually laughing at me."

[reposted b/c I do know the difference btw "here" and "hear."]

Obi-Wan grumbled something about impetuous Padawans who would be the death of him.

"It'll be almost strange to have you around all the time again," Obi-Wan agreed. "But I'll be glad to have backup a lot closer by the next time one our missions turns into....agressive negotiations."

"No, instead I'll be getting into trouble with you leading the way," Obi-Wan mock-scolded. Then his wide smile flashed white through his beard. "Just like old times."
