Exploring the Jedi Temple [Friday morning into Saturday afternoon]

"This is the Jedi Temple," Anakin said, gesturing. A few Jedi walking past gave him a curious look. Anakin blushed. "Um, obviously. We'll be staying here for the night. You're free to wander around and explore. Your rooms will be down this corridor," he pointed, "and mine is with Master Kenobi on the other side of the Temple with the rest of the Masters and Padawans. In your room you'll find comlinks, maps, and translated lists of pretty normal words from English to Basic, which is what all the signs are in around here. Call me if you get lost, either in the Temple or out in Coruscant. It's a big planet and getting turned around is to be expected."

A sort of resigned expression of chagrin came across Obi-Wan's face as the sounds of the Lola song came through the open doorway. "Oh, I'd really hoped they were done with this."

He plastered on "patient Master facial expression #23" as he approached the entryway. "I'm sure there are plenty of beings who haven't seen those pictures I sent, Anakin," he muttered. "Or the entertaining message you left for me."

The younglings finished their clanging.

"Jaye wants dinner, Master Kenobi," their spokesbeing said, nodding.

Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow. Had nothing to do with it, indeed. "Does she? Well, I'm sure Anakin's made arrangements for all of his friends to find refreshment." There was a stern, unspoken "didn't you?" at the end of that sentence.

The younglings had a muttered conversation.

"So you're not gonna give her food?" one of them said, looking at Obi-Wan with faintly horrified eyes.

One of them burst into giant fake tears.

Obi-Wan was suspicious of the cue-based crying, but still -- Youngling. Crying. Obi-Wan didn't deal well with that.

"No, no," he said hastily, "we'll be feeding her. We'll be feeding all of Anakin's students." He glanced over at his Padawan. "Should we take everyone out into the city - to Dex's? - or do you think they'd prefer to relax in the Temple after the long flight?"

"I don't know, Master," Anakin said slowly, trying to come up with a solution that didn't sound too inane. "I'd left them with coordinates for that bar down in the midlevels, and it might be difficult to find them all now. Since Jaye has brought this issue to your attention, perhaps you should, um, talk to her personally?"

Well, so much for not sounding inane.

Obi-Wan stepped out into the hallway, looking in the direction of the muffled coughing, and spotted Jaye. Turning back to Anakin, he folded his arms. "Well, then it shouldn't be difficult to meet up with them there. That bar serves perfectly acceptable food, if not the greatest variety."

Anakin shifted his weight from foot to foot, then gave Jaye a "help me!" look. "Would you really want to spend all that time with my students, Master? Won't it interfere with your sock sorting?"

Jaye has to wonder if they're clueless because they're celibate, or celibate because they're clueless.

"There, you see, Jaye's a fun girl -- she shouldn't be stuck around here. You should definitely make sure she goes to the bar."

Obi-Wan might not have thought that sentence all the way through.

"Anakin has a lot of people to worry about," says Jaye. "Maybe you should make sure I go. In fact, I think you should take me there."

And if he says no, she really hopes the kids cry.

"He's not doing anything else right now," Obi-Wan said dryly, gesturing back at the HoloNet feed which was still playing in the room behind them.

"I'm happy to tag along, of course, if it won't make your friends uncomfortable," he started, then hid a small grin as he thought of the one thing that would ensure Anakin wouldn't leave him alone with Jaye. "But really, the bar just won't be as much fun without Anakin trying to challenge me to a drinking contest and losing."

"I don't lose!" Anakin yelped, completely forgetting the part of the plan where Jaye and Obi-Wan were supposed to go off together.

But then again, what better conversation topic than a drunken padawan? Hmmmm.

"Never?" Jaye asks, totally innocently.

"Never against Obi-Wan," Anakin amended. "Most nights," he amended again after looking at Obi-Wan. "He's a total lightweight."

"Oh, for a holo feed of how many times I've had to carry you back to our rooms," Obi-Wan muttered.

Anakin reacted the only way a person who's been trained for a decade in the delicate arts of negotiation can.

He stuck his tongue out.

"Nuh-uh."

"I think you're forgetting how many more decades I have over you of drinking with Vos," Obi-Wan retorted.

This idea was seeming better and better all the time -- which was probably a sign that the evening would end in hideous humiliation and tears, but for now he was just thinking of having more stories to tell his old friend when they met up again.

Anakin waved at the younglings--who broke into another ear-shattering rendition of "Copacabana"--then smirked. "Uh-huh," he said. "I've seen how well that works out."

Obi-Wan winced at the din and flushed. "Yes, well, I only have to outdrink you this time. A far easier task," he added loftily, shooting a conspiratorial glance at Jaye.

And now she's making sure she has battery life on her camera for this. "I'm good," she says happily.
