Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Morning & Afternoon | Tuesday | February 22nd

Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Ah. That got some sympathy from Wes.

"For the record, there isn't surfing on the Hellmouth," he told her, choppily trying to imitate her movements on the surfboard. "There's a beach, but it's quite far. The town itself is desert."

Just, you know, in case that was what she was thinking.

Kennedy swung her legs out over the edge of the surfboard and dangled her feet in the water, the board bobbing gently beneath her on the swells.

"Sure as hell's closer than New York, though, huh?" Okay, that way lay morose thinking, and Hawaii was not the place for it. "Plus who has time for surfing with all the crazy stuff going down, anyway. Points for Hawaii on that level and all."

She eyed an incoming wave and stretched out on her stomach along the board, paddling to angle herself toward the shore. "Wanna try this one? Standing totally optional for the first round."

Sure, she could've shown off and tried to stand up for this, but A) she didn't feel like wiping out herself, and B) she apparently took teaching people things kind of seriously.

Aww, he hadn't meant to bring the morose. Well, that was the end of that topic. Back to surfing! And possibly wiping out. Yeah, he was going to sit for the first one.

He turned his board around so he was angled the same way she was, a full-watt expression of we're-all-gonna-die on his face, and waited for the wave.
And waited.

And then turned around to see if it was even coming at all, at which point, of course, the wave actually chose to arrive. He didn't immediately fall off the board, which he considered an enormous plus, but he was clutching the board for dear life, so that had something to do with it.
Aaaaand... he survived. Ta-da!

"No wipeout for you! Nice one," Kennedy called, paddling over to hold up a hand for a high five. (Did Watchers do high fives? 'cause that was all spontaneous and stuff.) "Told you it wouldn't be that bad."

She snickered. "Even though oh my god, you so looked like it would be."

Wes blushed. Well. That wasn't that surprising, but Kennedy didn't have to point it out! Yes, he was a whiner. Shush. Awkwardly, he high-fived her, then looked eagerly back at the oncoming waves. "Could we try more?" he asked, rather hopefully.

Yes, he'd changed his tune.

"Damn right we can." Kennedy? Already paddling back out toward the waves. "Aim a little higher, even, try a bigger one."

Wheeeeee, she so won, huh?

Wesley's enthusiasm levels were way higher than standard-issue for Watchers, even for dorky things like demon research, and this was quite, quite different from demo research. So yeah, Kennedy won.
"You know, I think I'm getting quite go--"

And then a bigger wave hit and he kind of wiped out. Fail, Wes.
