Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Ben burst out laughing because no one had ever said that to him before. "Really? I mean, I like ice cream and all but not quite that much."

George pretended to think it over.

"Nah, I don't have a whole lot of marketable skills," she said. "I mean, I'd try for a temp job first, I wouldn't dive straight to crack whore, but ... it would never snow again."

"But snow is pretty!" Ben replied. "You know, on Christmas or Valentine's Day or Thanksgiving. The rest of the time I can take it or leave it, but around holidays it's okay."

Someone had still not been filled in on why people dream of a white Christmas and not a white, say, Labor Day.

"Holidays are overrated," George announced cheerfully. "And you could take pictures of pretty snow and toss them up in your room, so you can look at it and go 'hey, that's nice' before you head right back to the beach."

"You can find another job," George said, graciously. "It's not like temping is any less soulless, though. Trust me."

"I've never temped," Ben said. "Actually, I'm not sure I know what temping is."

"It's where ... you go to a place, and they send you out on short-term jobs," George said. "You're a temporary employee, so they call you a temp. It's usually office work, and it's usually mindless and dull, for crappy pay."
