Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Morning & Afternoon | Tuesday | February 22nd

Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Bod always said the right thing and Caroline couldn't stop herself from leaning in to give him a peck on the cheek. "Seriously, too sweet. I thought we talked about this? It's really no wonder your ex wishes me dead all the time. I have half a mind to drag you to my room and show you just what all that complimenting will get you."

Um, watch her swap topics quickly because that was probably not the most appropriate thing to ever fall out of Caroline's mouth.

"But you're totally wrong on the surfing front. It's way too much work for the small amount of success I actually achieved."

"I think I've just resigned myself to being sweet," he said, laughing and just letting his cheeks and the tips of his ears redden with a blush. "I'm sorry for however Kate treats you, I am, and I don't plan on stopping giving you deserved compliments either."

It was just nice to be shown affection by someone he had an easy, uncomplicated relationship with. It made him feel happier than usual.

"And despite the fact that surfing might not have been a great success, you tried and I'm almost positive you looked the best out of all those that were trying. It's really too bad I hadn't made it out there yet because I would have enjoyed watching the lessons. I would have held your towel and clapped for you."

"Would you have stood guard over my shoes, too?" Caroline checked. "Because I really do like these flip flops." They had garish flowers all over the bottom and it amused her for some reason. "And not just because they are going to be my souvenir from the trip. Way better than the VD I bet some people bring back."

"I would definitely stand guard over your shoes as well," he said, eyes going down to her shoes. They weren't really his type (of course) but they looked nice on her.

"I would hold your towel, guard your shoes and applaud you once your lesson ended," he assured her, nodding. "I won't be going in for any VD either. I'm sure I can find a much better souvenir than that. Much, much better."

"And I would totally have had to repay you by making sure you had a better souvenir than anyone else," she replied easily. "What are you thinking about? Something that will always make you think, 'mmm, Hawaii!'"

"I...actually have no idea," he admitted with a laugh. "Sand? This sand is different from the sand back home. Perhaps a t-shirt?"

Both of those sounded lame to Bod and he ran his fingers through his hair, blushing anew at having no idea what things said Hawaii. "I don't know, I'm rather bad at this. What would you suggest? I'm open to anything."

"Oh there's no being bad at it," Caroline assured him. "It's about finding something for you. Screw everyone else's idea of what's amazing and memorable."

"Perhaps a book then?" Bod said, sounding thoughtful. "I seem to collect those from the different places I visit. I'm sure I could find something specific to Hawaii around here. And it would last and I wouldn't risk shrinking it in the laundry like I would a garment."

Once Bod realized what he was saying, he started laughing and shaking his head.

"I'm so dull," he laughed, not sounding all that serious. "How are you not asleep against my shoulder?"

"Because we have another hour before naptime," Caroline teased, resting her chin on his shoulder just because she could. "And I don't think a book's dull. I mean, I would never do it, unless someone famous from here wrote an awesome novel." Which she so doubted.

Of course, Caroline enjoyed Twilight.

"Are you actually planning a naptime?" he teased back, glancing down at her and smiling. "And here I thought you weren't one to get tired so easily. Have my impressions done me wrong? I'm usually quite good with observations but maybe not."

Bod sighed heavily and shook his head. "How terribly sad."

"I was considering a naptime. There's a difference." Of course, her thoughts hadn't really involved sleeping. "Why is that sad?"

"It's sad because I'd lose the pleasure of your company," Bod pointed out, shrugging the shoulder her chin wasn't resting on. "See? Sad."

Oh how innocent and sweet Bod was. It was a good reminder that Caroline probably shouldn't take advantage of him or their easy friendship.

"Aww, in that case, I guess I can stick around a while longer. I do like giving ample opportunity for cute boys to check out my swimwear."

Bod laughed and shook his head, looking amused. And, considering she was as close as she, he just had to turn his head and smile at her from that close proximity.

"If you're honestly in need of naptime, don't let my lamenting stop you," he said quietly. "I'll even offer to escort you back to your room should you need it. I wouldn't want you to get lost on the way."

"There's no need, I promise," Caroline told him. "Even if I'm really, really tempted by your offer to escort me places." She doubted he'd meant it in a wholly innocent manner, even if he was the sweetest boy in town.

"Well, the offer remains nonetheless," he said, nodding and glancing back out towards the ocean. "I'm sure I'll be doing nothing more than turning my skin a bright red and occasionally taking a swim to cool off. Quite the exciting day I have planned, isn't it? I'm thrilling."

"Totally thrilling," she laughed, starting to stand up and trying to pull his arm with her. "Come on, I vote we make that occasional swim happen right now before your arms freeze all lobster-style to your sides and you start crying for me to rub lotion all over you." Not that she'd mind.

"I would not cry," he protested, getting to his feet anyway. "I would ask nicely if you'd help me with my sunscreen and then I'd hope for a positive answer. There would be absolutely no tears on this face."

Unless the sunburn was really that awful and he was having a whiny moment. If that happened, then he might get a little teary. "And look at this, it looks like I'm escorting you to the ocean. I suppose this is my chance to prove I'm quite good at it."

"That's right," she said, kicking off her sandals and grabbing for his hand. "And if you suck at it, I'm totally going to dunk you."

There was nothing wrong with two perfectly single, attractive people holding hands and taking a swim. Especially when there were certain other people totally paying no attention to anything around them.
