Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Morning & Afternoon | Tuesday | February 22nd

Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Raven had been looking forward to experiencing the volcanoes. She was sad, however, that her clothing hadn't returned to normal that morning, so she was stuck wearing one of the dresses that someone had left for her. But at least she still had her cloak to wear over it in case of rain or cold.

"Oh! I love your dress," squealed Harper, rushing up to Raven. "Where did you get it? It's absolutely exquisite and it looks so good on you. I always knew you'd look good with a splash of color."

Raven's cheeks turned pink. "It appeared in my room last night," she said. "I think perhaps all my clothing was turned into things like...like this." THIS MONSTROSITY.

"Raven, you look so pretty!" Sookie squealed when she spotted her.

And perhaps she knew where the dress came from. Perhaps.

"I feel so strange," Raven ~~bitched~~ complained, tugging at the neckline of the dress. These straps were so impractical. What if one of them broke? Or if it got caught on something and untied itself?

"But you look adorable," Sookie assured her. "You should wear color more often!"

"You are not the first to tell me that," Raven said. Nor, most likely, the last. "But I have always been much more comfortable in black. It is what I have worn all my life."

She glanced down at the sea of pink and orange. "And Jono likes black, and we have a date tonight. But all my clothes seem to have changed to things like this, so I have nothing else to wear. And all of the stores seem to have only dresses like these."

Bobby was so mean.

"Jono likes you no matter what you wear," Sookie assured her. "And colors bring out your eyes!"

"It does?" Raven said, allowing herself a tiny bit of vanity. She wanted to look nice for tonight, but the colors, they burned her eyes.

"Karla's clothing seems to be the same, but yesterday the clothes I brought with me all changed into this," she went on. "It seems some of Fandom's whimsy has followed me here."

"Yeah, that definitely seems like the logical explanation," Sookie said with a nod. And definitely not that she had helped Bobby pick out that very dress. "Sad that it only seems to have struck you, but hey! You get kind of a change of pace, wardrobe-wise!"

At least it made a certain amount of sense that the goth girl had been singled out to have her clothing changed by the island, so Raven had no reason to suspect that two of her dearest friends had so ruthlessly betrayed her! The horror of it all!

"I suppose it helps me fit in better," she said reluctantly. "But the colors hurt my eyes.¹"

"...sunglasses?" Sookie tried. "I think they're lovely! Very tropical colors!"

"At least it is a dress and not pants," Raven said, making a face.

That would've been cruel!

"That would have been really warm," Sookie said with a nod.

Probably not Raven's concern.

"And the warmth here does make wearing black somewhat problematic," Raven said. She sighed and shook her head. "I suppose I will have to accept it until my clothing changes back. But I will need to buy more sunscreen."

Putting the girl in a sundress wasn't going to make her want to tan. It took serious effort to keep this pale!

"You could just tan," Sookie teased. "Get a little color in your cheeks."

"I only burn," Raven said solemnly. "Though I can heal it immediately, of course."

"You don't even freckle?" Sookie asked, suddenly very sad for Raven. She loved tanning!

Sookie should consider herself lucky she was being spared a lecture about the dangers of excessive sun exposure and how she was damaging her skin. Raven had come to understand that some were will to take a risk for beauty, and tan did suit Sookie.

She shook her head. "I have only been burned when I have been out in the sun without protection for too long," she said. "Azarath is -- was -- a sheltered place from such dangers because it was magically created."

Sookie would defend herself with the fact that she barely ever drank and never smoked and only had safe sex! She was allowed one vice. And that was the sun.

"You could fake tan," Sookie offered. "Just to see what it looks like."

"Fake tan?" Raven repeated, puzzled. "Oh -- those lotions? Do they not turn you orange?"

Wearing black, she'd look decked out for Halloween.

"Only if you do it wrong," Sookie said wisely. So wise, for someone who had never fake-tanned in her life.

"Perhaps you can help me try one day," Raven said. "Since it is temporary, it might be amusing to see what I would look like."

What could go wrong?

"Totally! We could put highlights in your hair to go with it, too!" Sookie offered. "Like, caramel ones. Not crazy blonde streaks. That'd just look weird."

Again: nothing could go wrong with this plan.

"Highlight my hair?" Raven near-squeaked. "I do not think we need to get that creative."

Maybe a streak of dark burgundy or even purple, but light colors?
