New Gotham, Tuesday

The Policeman's Ball was tonight. There was time to check out New Gotham and shop for dress clothes first, of course, or do a lot of other things. But that was the cool part of the day.

Priestly had to admit, he kind of froze up when the crazy henchpeople started running around. On the one hand, he had a very well developed sense of self-preservation, after years in Fandom. On the other, he was supposed to be Dinah's sidekick, right? And sidekicks did stuff.

He just couldn't quite work out what stuff needed to get did, just now. And the gas was not helping with his thought processes.

"Grab this guy!" Said one masked henchman to another, pointing at Priestly. "Definitely not a cop!"

"Dude, no way," Hench #1 responded, tilting his head as the gas swirled around the tables. "They always look lamer. Nice tatt."

"I dunno, man, I think I saw him talking to the Commish--" objected Hench #2. Inching closer, though, in case hey, maybe this guy *was* an undercover cop.

"Oh yeah," Priestly said quickly. "Commish and I go way back. Wait, that's a good thing, right?"

Priestly backed up a step, looking around for, say, a super-powered person to swing in to the rescue. Breaking into a run in that gas was just asking to bust an ankle.

"Then he has to be worth more!" Henchman #1's mind was made up, and he dove toward Priestly at a tackle-over-the-table maneuver.

"Aw crap!" Priestly spotted the tackle maneuver just a little bit too late to get out of its way. His old football coach would be hanging his head in shame.

THUD. That would be two Henchmen hitting Priestly broadside, and taking him down to the polished parquet.

Whump.

Getting tackled to polished floor hurt a lot more than getting tackled to astroturf. Priestly's breath went out with a hearty whooosh!, and though he managed to get a hand up to keep his head from smacking against the parquet, he still wasn't going to be able to do much more than cough and gasp for a moment.

Which gave them time to wind a rope around him, hoist him up, and pass him off to their accomplices dropping off the balconies.

Dinah would've said Wheee! But she wouldn't have liked being dropped off.

Priestly didn't say Wheee! He was too busy thinking about how much Dinah and Momoko would kill him for getting his ass grabbed.

Also, maybe having a minor panic attack.
