Atlantis Resort - Thursday [Adventures]

Even after five days there was surely something new and different for the guests of Atlantis to experience! With eleven pools and a half dozen lagoons, the water alone offered a new adventure at every turn!

"The speed doesn't bother me." The steepness was getting him, yes. He'd climbed to the top, he knew it was a long drop. "And I know I'm perfectly safe but I've never really experienced heights before."

Heights didn't bother Claire but she could understand why they might unnerve someone else.

"You did the hard part already," she pointed out. "You made it up here."

"And now I'm contemplating hurtling myself back down in an inflatable raft," he laughed. "That seems backwards."

Claire chuckled. "Well, consider it this way," she said. "You have to get down one way or another, right?"

"Have you been down this one before?" Jonas asked curiously.

"Not yet," she admitted. "But I can go first if you want."

"If you'd like," Jonas said quickly. "I'd hate to make you go down the slide if you had another ride in mind. That's another climb back up to the top."

"I was going to ride this one eventually," Claire assured him. "I want to ride them all."

"Oh, then feel free," Jonas said, stepping aside. "I'll probably lose sight of you rather quickly but I promise I'll go after you."

"Meet you at the bottom," she said with a nod. "We can grab a soda or something, if you want."

"All right," Jonas said agreeably. "Let's hope I make it to the bottom, right? I'd hate to get stuck somewhere in the tube and have to live there."

He was joking, really! Sometimes, Jonas could do that.

Claire laughed. "Well, if that happens, I'll bring you a soda somehow," she joked back.

She situated her tube at the top of the slide and then sat down, holding on to the rails. "See you in a few minutes!"

Jonas gave her a quick wave but kept his mouth shut so he wouldn't prove a distraction to her getting started on the ride.

Taking a deep breath and hoping her bikini top was going to stay on, Claire pushed off and went down the slide.

It was exhilarating and when she splashed in to the pool at the end, she was happy her swimsuit was still intact.

She dragged her tube to the side and waited for Jonas.

Jonas took some time to take some deep breaths, give himself a quick pep talk and a few more breaths before he took off down the slide. He slid through most of it with his eyes closed but when he realized he wasn't going to die (SHUSH), he opened them right as he splashed into the water.

He came up spluttering but grinning. "That wasn't too bad."

"Wanna go again?" Claire asked, half-joking which was obvious by her grin.

"I think I might need a break," he said, letting a laugh slip out, "but perhaps later now that I know it's not so bad."

She nodded. "I think I'm going to go grab a drink if you want to join me."

"All right," Jonas said, slogging his way out of the water and onto solid ground. "Lead the way."

Claire climbed out of the pool, adjusted the straps on her bikini and headed for the snack bar.

"Are you wearing sunscreen?" she thought to ask as they walked, wanting to make sure he wasn't going to get burnt.

"Many, many layers," he assured her. "That's one thing I do know about and want to prevent. So yes, I definitely am."

"Okay, good," she said. "Thought that might be something you didn't know about."

"Thankfully, I do know about that," he said, laughing quietly. "Even if I hadn't, I would have learned fast out here."

"Good point," she said. "And that would have made for a pretty unpleasant vacation."

"Which I am determined not to have," he said firmly.
