Atlantis Resort - Wednesday [Rooms & Activities]

As the sun rose over the Bahamas, it brought with it all the signs of rain...

Oh, who are we kidding? It was another warm and sunny day here at Atlantis, and with everything at the resort reset and ready, all that was needed were guests ready to go out and have an amazing day.

Sookie was almost afraid she'd just fall right asleep in the sun, she was so comfortable. The only reason it seemed like a bad idea was because she wanted to tan evenly, anyway.

It was a good thing she'd remembered to bring a little egg timer. Oh, people might mock, but she was smart for it. Or at least she thought so.

Jonas didn't know if Sookie was asleep or not but his attention was caught by the egg timer nonetheless. It appeared to be some form of keeping time but that's what he'd thought clocks were for.

And so, he was staring at the egg timer. And probably blocking Sookie's sun.

He was, but that was okay. Sookie didn't even have to open her eyes to do a quick brain scan of who was in front of her. Though she did, once she figured out who was there. "Hey, Jonas. How are you?"

Jonas startled, having thought she was either asleep or daydreaming and looked instantly abashed.

"I apologize, I'm sorry," he said hurriedly. "I was looking at your...small clock there."

Sookie pushed her sunglasses up onto the top of her head, confused. "The egg timer? Yeah, I know, it's weird that I brought one, but they're great for tanning."

"An egg timer?" he asked, peering at it more closely. "What makes it associated with eggs?"

"You used to use these for cooking stuff," she explained, picking it up. "'Specially eggs, 'cause they're a little sensitive and you can overdo it or underdo it real easy. But it's just a little clock thing that ticks off short amounts of time."

"So, it's akin to a stopwatch?" he asked, slowly making the association in his head.

"Kinda!" Sookie agreed, nodding, holding it up for him to see. "You just set it for however much time, and it'll ding when it's ready. Stopwatches kinda work backwards from that, where they'll tick it off and you need to stop it yourself."

"Were you using it because you thought you...might end up cooking?" Jonas would be kind of shocked to hear that he was almost right. It just wasn't the type of cooking he'd been thinking of.

Okay, she had to giggle there. "In a manner of speaking. It's so that I know when to turn over so my tan's even. And also so I don't fall asleep and get a sunburn, you know?"

"Sunburn I do know," he said, glancing down at his own shoulders to make sure he wasn't turning any shades of red. "An even tan is important?"

"Otherwise my front might be more tan than my back," she said, nodding. "It's not very good for me, but I love tanning. The sun's just so nice and relaxing."

"I guess I'd never paid much attention to that sort of thing," he said but his mind was focusing on it now. "You don't like the cold winters, I'm guessing?"

"Ugh, no. It's real warm where I'm from. I'm not suited to it. Are you liking being out here rather than dealing with Fandom and cold right now?" she wondered.

"I like them both for different reasons," he answered, shrugging. "Where I was from, there weren't any real seasons."

And now, Jonas wondered how that was even possible. Sure, they'd been gifted coats and the like but there was never snow or rain or anything like that.

"I like experiencing the different temperatures even if they become uncomfortable after awhile."

"Don't get sunburned or sunstroke," she cautioned. "Temperature's great so long as you aren't hurting after."

"Don't worry, I've got sunscreen on and I don't stay out too long," he assured her, brushing a hand over his shoulder. "I don't too much like pain so I try to avoid it whenever possible."

"Are you gonna go swimming?" she asked, remembering when she'd found him at the pool over fall break.

"I've already been a few times but I think so, yes," he said, peering out at the ocean. "It's my first time swimming in an ocean. It's different."

"Did you see any fish?" she asked eagerly, because fish were interesting when you were a nerd like Sookie.

"Yes!" Jonas said, excited. "I went to one of the marine habitats yesterday and actually snorkeled with one! It was amazing."

"Ooooh! I saw the dolphins the other day and got to pet them and stuff. I'd never seen one 'cept on the Discovery Channel, and stuff, you know?"

"I'd only seen them in pictures," he said, still grinning. "I went with Tahiri. We'd both never been and we aren't the strongest swimmers but it was hard to pass something so incredible up."

"I'd rather play with them than the sharks, too," she said, wide-eyed.
