Atlantis Resort - Wednesday [Rooms & Activities]

As the sun rose over the Bahamas, it brought with it all the signs of rain...

Oh, who are we kidding? It was another warm and sunny day here at Atlantis, and with everything at the resort reset and ready, all that was needed were guests ready to go out and have an amazing day.

It was all right; Jack was still sober too. "I think I left it in my other pockets," he quipped as he glanced up at Alex. "I keep finding shells, though. Look at this one."

He held the conch up for Alex to see. It might have been childish, but he still thought the shell was pretty.

"There's not a crab or some other critter in it, is there?" Alex asked, kneeling down to get a better look at the shell. "It's nice though. Not all cracked and broken like some shells."

Jack shook his head. "No, I think they're all dead and cleaned out by the time they get this far up on the beach." Cheerful thought, Jack. "You can keep it if you want. Give it to Effy. There are hundreds of them if you look."

"Give it to Effy?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow and chuckling. "She really strike you as the seashell sort of girl? Give it to Emma."

"I think Effy's completely the seashell type," Jack nodded seriously. "You could make her one of those necklaces with little shells on hemp. She'd adore it."

"Or she'd try and make me choke on it," Alex said, flopping down in the sand across from Jack and stretching his legs out. "She'd probably set the shit on fire. It's a thing."

Jack bounced the shell in his palm. "Do shells burn?" he wondered idly. "I didn't think they did."

He smiled at Alex. "Having a good trip so far?"

"Never tried but I don't doubt that she'd give it a go," he said before nodding. "I am, actually. It's kind of hard to complain when I get all this stuff for free. Spent about the last two and a half days pretty much drunk. It's been a good time."

"Sounds like your trip is like mine," Jack observed, sprawling out on his towel. "No point wasting free alcohol. I made it to the aquarium yesterday, but that's as active as I've been."

"I was over at the water park earlier," he said, turning his face up towards the sun for a moment. "It's not too bad over there. Lots of pretty things to watch, at the very least."

Mmm, voyeurism.

"I'm on a mission to get drunk at as many bars as I can, I think."

"I might do that later." You know, if he found the energy for things other than lounging on the beach. "Do you have a favorite bar yet? I like the one on the beach."

"There was one I went to the first day," he said, trying to recall the name. "Um, Bimini Road? I like that one. Of course, I wasn't alone for the most part and the bartender was quick with the drinks. I'd recommend that place if you're for a place to go on a date."

Teasing Jack? Yes, Alex would be doing that.

"Gosh, gee, Alex," Jack said, opening his eyes wide. "Thank you for the advice. I was going to take Emma to the ice cream parlor and see if she wanted to hold hands."

"Shucks, I was just trying to help!" Alex said, going with the charade. "If it means you two go steady, then I'll just be the happiest guy in the whole world!"

Jack laughed. "Awwww, you're swell, Alex," he said. "'Cause you know I don't want anything except making you proud of me."

... he had no idea, but it felt good to be silly.

"Just remember," Alex said, leaning closer conspiratorially, "no sex before marriage. You can hold hands and just get your enjoyment from that!"

Oh, they both failed at that hard.

"You've found a girl who lets you hold hands before engagement? I'm shocked."

... Victorian. Jack grew up around people who believed masturbation might one day make them insane, and sex before marriage was even worse.

"Yeah, but we only do it in private," he shared, putting a finger to his lips. "Don't tell anyone because her father's a preacher and might disown her!"

"You fell for a preacher's daughter?" Jack asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm sure you're at church with her every Sunday."

"Oh, you know me," Alex said, snorting at the very idea of him in a church. "Hair brushed, tie on--"

That reminded him, he still needed to find a fucking tie for tomorrow.

"--and shoes shined. I am the regular boy next door."

"Keep your mouth closed, and you might even pull that one off," Jack advised laconically.

"You know, just saying that made me want to punch myself," Alex said, snickering. "There's no way I could be that good. Too boring."

"It can be fun to look that way and not be," said Jack, who had long since learned how to work his curls and innocent features to his advantage.

"I just don't think I've got what it takes to be innocent and pull it off," he said, shrugging. "In that case, most people see through me. Fucking irritating because I do try."

"It's about the only thing I like about being short," Jack admitted. "And I don't suppose you want to shrink."
