Atlantis Resort - Tuesday [Nightlife]

Once the sun had gone down at Atlantis, it was time for the real fun to begin. The DJs had their music prepared, the bar was fully restocked, and the casino was more than ready to take everyone's money. Tonight would not be the night to go to bed early...unless you had someone to join you.

"Oh, I wish," Dinah sighed, pointing at him as she talked around her straw. "See, this is why I really, really envy your ability. You can come back any time! Forever!"

"Yeah, but on my own it'd be less fun, I imagine." A year ago he would not have said that. "You've been keeping your usual insane schedule?"

Dinah grinned. "Yup. Dolphins!" That were awesome! "And swimming. And some workouts. Tomorrow I want to hit the water slides, have you gotten there yet?"

"I've mostly stuck to the beach," he admitted. "Forgot how good it felt to get so tan your skin was always warm."

"God, yes. It's warm even now, with the sun going down," Dinah said, sighing happily. "I'm thinking of hitting the dance clubs tomorrow night. But this vegging out by a beach is awesome too."

"Dance clubs," Griff made a face at the thought of trying to pretend he could dance. "You'll likely find me right here every night till we leave. Call me a tomato."

"Tomaaaato," Dinah said, stretching out a flip-flopped foot to try to poke at him lightly. "Do you have sunscreen?" Could she sound more like someone's mom?

"Yes, mum," he said with a slight laugh at her poking him. "I did spend my formative years living at a beach resort, you know."

"Oh, right. Meh-i-co," Dinah said, then quickly added, so as not to dwell on that, "And now you can add this one to your fave sites ever. But you're right, more fun with friends." She grinned at him. "Even if all we do is lay back and look at the stars and feel incredibly lucky."

There was no avoiding dwelling on it for Griff. The memories kept him distanced and closer to cranky than a few months back, but he generally avoided mentioning it.

"You feel lucky?" Okay, maybe sometimes it was necessary to near-mention. "Is being here really enough for it?"

"I do. And well, not just this," Dinah said, leaning back and waving her hand negligently around them at the stunning scenery and ridiculous luxury. "Friends to come here with. Seventy-some days 'til Graduation." She thought of Jak. "Some friends having problems, but mostly..." She looked at Griff, the exception there. "Mostly okay."

"Guess that's good enough reason to feel lucky." He tried to think what he was lucky to have and swallowed. "Plus you've got a drink. That counts for something."

Dinah held hers out. "Share. You can be lucky to have someone to share her drink with you."

"Thanks, drinking buddy," he said, accepting her drink, taking a sip and passing it back. "I'm lucky you're around."
