Atlantis Resort - Tuesday [Nightlife]

Once the sun had gone down at Atlantis, it was time for the real fun to begin. The DJs had their music prepared, the bar was fully restocked, and the casino was more than ready to take everyone's money. Tonight would not be the night to go to bed early...unless you had someone to join you.

"Awesome," Rose said. "Especially since Emma was some kind of weasel or something, huh? That whole animal thing's been just racing right through everyone lately."

But she had to answer the question eventually, and Rose shrugged a little. "Bad conversation at a bar and shit."

"Sounds dire," Kennedy said, a little dryly but not quite pushing. "By which I mean the 'and shit' part. Glad you're back, though. Really didn't wanna have to kick your ass."

Like she could.

Rose snorted, grateful for the lack of pushing and the look she gave Kennedy reflected that.

"Anytime you wanna try, you know where to find me," she said.

"Maybe I will, when we get back," Kennedy shot back; talking big like that was a comfort zone for her, so, catching that look, she was taking a gamble that it'd work the same way for Rose. "Not that I'm in a hurry. I mean, come on, this place is awesome."

"I've really just seen the beach," Rose admitted. "Need to get out more. What should I check out?"

"What, you haven't hit the climbing wall yet?" Let's just ignore the way Kennedy moved a little stiffly when she turned to lean an elbow against the bar, shall we? "And I totally found this remote-control monster truck rally kind of thing earlier. Kinda cheesy, but fun, and there's a whitewater inner tube ride at the water park."

Oh yeah, that stiffness was totally noticed. "What? So I'd move like you?" she teased a little but shook her head. "I'm off training for the week so I figured I'd wait a few days before totally break that. But I gotta check out the water park. Shark. Slides."

Well, damn.

"The burn's totally worth it," Kennedy tried to play it off. "Ask Jaina, she did it too."

And better than Kennedy had, which still had her a little irked, but anyway.

"I'm going to do the dolphin swim thing with Tara tomorrow, but..." She grinned. "Think I'll have to check out the sharks, too."

"How are you and Tara?" Rose asked, unable not to tease.

"Pretty damn awesome, thanks," Kennedy said, and oh, look, smugness. "What about you, got anything going on that way?"

"Good to hear. And something a little," Rose admitted, smiling a little as she looked into her drink.

Kennedy grinned right back at her. "Guess this means no more trips to the mainland to try and get laid, huh?"

Well.

Rose wrinkled her nose. "Yeah, we'll see. If it ever gets that far."

"Ah. Gotcha," Kennedy said, and didn't elaborate further (yet), but her tone was one of complete sympathy. "Yeah."

Maybe once she turned 18 so it wasn't illegal.

"Kinda creepy how so many people are pairing off all of a sudden," Rose said to try to turn her thoughts away from Dimitri and the fact that she really missed him. "Think there's something in the water?"

Yeah, that was not Kennedy's problem. Not that she'd call it a problem exactly.

"No idea," she replied, and idly twirled her drink umbrella between her fingers ~~dammit why I have I not made an icon of this~~. "Three months is like forever for me."

Totally not complaining, though.

"Something in the water's as good a theory as anything I can come up with, though."

"And listen to you totally hating that," Rose teased.

Kennedy gave her a completely unconvincing glare. "What, did you take me for the settling type?"

Glare, hell. That was completely a grin.

"Honestly, I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner," Rose deadpanned.

"Shut up," Kennedy ~~whined~~ objected. "Or I'm gonna ask what took you so long."

"Yeah, well, maybe I've been madly in love for months and you never knew it," Rose smirked.

...okay, it was kinda partially true.

"Yeah, right." Kennedy swatted at the straw in her drink with one finger until it swiveled around enough to let her catch it in her teeth, then took a long sip. "Like I'd have believed it if you told me that."

Well, not at the time, no.

"Cause I'm totally not that pathetic," Rose decided. "So we'll just have to figure out what the crap in the water is."

"Before it gets to anybody else?" Which was pretty much Kennedy conceding it was too late for her, yeah.

"We gotta save the rest of them, yeah," Rose said. Shhh, admitting was for wusses.
