Atlantis Resort - Tuesday [Nightlife]

Once the sun had gone down at Atlantis, it was time for the real fun to begin. The DJs had their music prepared, the bar was fully restocked, and the casino was more than ready to take everyone's money. Tonight would not be the night to go to bed early...unless you had someone to join you.

Warren actually quirked a smile at that, glancing sideways at Hinata and nodding a sort of encouragement to her while he stuck his hand into his pockets.

If they were in his pockets, then his fidgeting would be less obvious.

"We were kind of hoping that you could maybe help me with something," he added, turning his smile back toward Tara. "I hope we're not interrupting anything?"

Tara wrinkled her nose lightly. "No, no, I was just ... kind of vegging out. Come in. And, uh, I am Tara."

Which was a cue -- a plea, really -- for them to share their names, too, as she stepped back to let them in.

Hinata wasn't going to stop being pink any time soon as she stepped in radiating nervous tension.

"I am Hinata," she said, bobbing her head. "S-Sorry for the intrusion."

"And I'm Warren," he added, nodding his head a bit and kind of keeping his eyes on the floor.

He was so, so bad at asking for things. But stepping into her room when invited? He could do that.

"Y-you, you aren't intruding," Tara said, still a little weirded out by this whole thing. She didn't get the sense either of them was anything worse than nervous, though, so -- "What's up?"

"Ino-san," Hinata began nervously, "said that you had m-magic? And... we were wondering if..."

Deep breath here, she had to get it out.

"If you could do an illusion on W-Warren?"

Which left out all the reasons why, to her mortification, but at least she'd gotten the basic gist of the reason why they were here down?

Warren fidgeted a little more. He could totally fidget for America in the next Olympics. That was a sport, right?

"It would be really appreciated," he added. "As it is, I'm kind of stuck."

Here went one hand, coming out of his pocket to gesture to the coat. Nobody in their right mind should ever wear a coat like this in the Bahamas, unless they were particularly masochistic and just happened to enjoy heatstroke.

Tara blinked at the coat. Yeah, not so much seasonally appropriate. ".... Um. What kind of illusion? Is there something under the coat?"

She could do illusions, maybe, depending on what he needed.

Hinata darted a quick glance at Warren. Should she--?

"He h-has wings," she explained briefly. "We were hoping you could hide them from sight?"

Warren was now chewing on his lip. He didn't much need that lip anyhow, did he? At least if he chewed on it too hard, it would grow back.

... Which was a thought that wasn't helping much with his 'wow, you're kind of freakish' train of thought at the moment. Weird how a day hiding from normal people could slingshot a person's state of mind so far back after a week of being comfortable being who he was.

"They're more than a little noticeable," he added. In case this was something that had to be elaborated on.

"So, not pixie wings," Tara said under her breath as she circled him -- the kind of offhand reference she didn't really expect anyone else to get. "Maybe. It -- wouldn't last forever? But I could make people just not notice them. Like, they'd fade into your shirt, or your back. Can you t-t-take off the jacket?"

Re: Room 640

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-24 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hinata stepped back, giving Warren what she hoped was a reassuring glance.

"I can hold your coat?" she offered, making sure she wasn't in the way.

"Right." Swallow that lump in your throat, Warren. And breathe. Breathing is good for you. Honest.

He was still nodding a little as he reached his hands up to ease his coat from his shoulders, and he held it toward Hinata. From there, he had a shirt on as well, and he was going to have to make his way out of that in order to show the wings.

These ones. Right here. Which were harnessed pretty tightly in place at the moment.

"Wings," he announced to the room at large. In case there was any question.

"Wings," Tara agreed, and lightly reached out a hand to trace a fingertip over the feathers. "I think I can put up -- kind of a glamour so nobody sees them? I can't make it so nobody feels them, though, so you can't act like they aren't there. Does that work?"

Warren nodded. Was still nodding? There was definite agreement from the boy in the room at the moment, while he tried not to look too terribly weirded out that she was reaching for his feathers.

He didn't pull away, either, for what it was worth.

"I don't think there are many people around here who would go around just randomly running their hands down the backs of perfectly normal tourists," he replied, quirking a smile over his shoulder at her. "If you can do something like that, it would be plenty."

"You might be surprised," Tara said, smiling back at him. The weirdness of having a cute (she was a lesbian, not blind) shirtless guy in her room asking her for help was not totally passing her by.

"Hang on." She went over to her suitcase to pull out a spellbook. "Uh ... I might take a second to figure this out? If you wanna sit down or change the channel on the TV ... go ahead."

Hinata wasn't really the sort to just... sit down, even when invited, and when Warren was looking so on edge, but she would use a chair to neatly drape his coat and his shirt over so that they didn't wrinkle (this sort of thing bothered her, yes) and watched what was going on curiously.

"If th-they're that forward," she said mildly, "then they deserve to be shocked at what they find."

Re: Room 640

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-02-24 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"If they were that forward," Warren added, choosing to remain standing, "they'd deserve the wing to the face."

A swan's wings could break a grown man's bones with only a little effort.

A swan had nothing on Warren.

Tara snickered. "Okay, as long as you're sure," she said, and then went quiet as she flipped through the book. She seemed excited when she looked up.

"I got it!" she said."It'll last ... probably 12 hours or so? It's just a spell. And I think I have all the ingredients."

Kennedy overpacked on clothes. Tara traveled with a small magical pharmacopoeia. It worked out.

Hinata looked over at him, at that.

"A-Ano," she said carefully, "should it maybe be cast first thing in the morning, then? Of course it is your choice, Warren, but..."

... Okay, she was just going to go back to her blushing and such.

Re: Room 640

[personal profile] wwiii 2010-02-24 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Warren chewed his lip again, and then gave his shoulders a shrug. See, he wasn't going to be horribly picky. If she cast it now, he'd spend a night on the town.

And he'd spend it on the town shirtless, if he felt like it.

... No, probably not.

"Any time that's okay for Tara," he replied, crossing his arms over his chest. "I... don't suppose you wouldn't mind doing this more than once before the week is through? I would gladly reimburse you for any ingredients that you end up using."

And then some, really. This was Warren. He was a Worthington.

"I can do it now," Tara said. "Just -- make sure it works first, right? S-so if it, um, doesn't go all that well, you can just go to your room and sleep it off. And if it works and you order a couple supplies, I can redo it whenever you want."

"That would be great, thank you," said Warren, who was kind of warming up to this whole idea more now that Tara didn't seem to be horribly put out by it. "What do I need to do?"

"Just sit down and don't cough when I blow herbs at you," Tara said, gesturing to the center of where she planned to cast the circle. "That's ... about it."
