Atlantis Resort - Tuesday [Rooms & Activities]

The skies over Atlantis were clear and bright with just a few puffy white clouds to give that feeling of perfection in the very air. In the night, the resort had been reset, everything fresh and new, from smooth beaches to full buffets. Whatever the Fandomites hearts desired was there and ready for the taking!

It would be way cuter than the tough-girl image she liked to project could withstand, probably, but she was okay with that.

"You can use it whenever, while we're here," Kennedy promised, idly running a fingertip along the curve of Tara's ear. "But fair's fair, I want a picture of you with a dolphin, too, if you're gonna get one of me."

Tara never bought the tough girl act, anyhow. It was okay.

"Fair's fair," she agreed. "Maybe the resort person would take one of both of us?"

As if Kennedy could keep the act up around Tara anyway. It was hard to sell to someone who knew what a shameless snuggler you really were.

"I can talk them into it." Convincing would likely not be necessary. "Wonder what my dad would think if I sent him a copy?"

"How's he doing with the you having a girlfriend thing?" Tara checked, only a tiny bit nervous.

"Not thrilled?" Kennedy shrugged and offered the coconut-shell drink to her. "Not mad, or anything though. I mean, he wishes I didn't like girls, but he's not trying to, you know, fix me or whatever. Seriously, you think he'd be used to it by now."

Apparently the sports-car gambit on her last birthday had been his last attempt. Kennedy was fine with that.

Tara hesitated, then decided she was being silly and took a big sip from the offered coconut shell. "Okay, what is that called?" she asked, distracted for the moment. "And -- not mad is good. I'm just glad he's over freaking out."

"Pina colada. Virgin," Kennedy added, apologetically, "because I left my fake ID back in the room."

She dug her toes into the sand, absently running her fingers along the side of Tara's neck. "He let me keep the car," she went on after a moment, "so I think that's his way of telling me he's trying to be cool with it. Hard to tell, when I barely see him ever."

"Virgin's good!" Tara announced, because she was still that girl who got drunk on half a wine cooler. "Very ... pineappley."

She reached her fingertips up to graze over Kennedy's side as she listened. "He loves you, though," she said. "I mean -- you sound like he does. Just in his own way."

"Yeah." Kennedy might have leaned into Tara's touch just a little, the pressure of her own fingertips increasing a bit in response. "I'm pretty sure he does, even if he never outright says so. Stepmom, not so much, but that's why she lives in a different part of the house anyway."

Tara made a face. Kennedy's stepmom always sounded like an irritating person to be around. "Try to ignore her," she said -- advice she knew she'd never take herself. "I .... kind of sent my mom a picture of us. She thinks you're cute."

"I'm a pro at ignoring her now," Kennedy began, which wasn't entirely true, but the next thing Tara said had her breaking out into a grin. "So does that mean I get the mom stamp of approval or what?"

Tara grinned back at her. "So does," she reassured her. "Plus, she's happy I'm happy. I wish you could meet her. Maybe I'll make her come out next time she's doing better."

"I'd like that." And now Kennedy was leaning forward, ignoring the way her muscles still twinged from yesterday's climbing wall experience, to drop a kiss on the top of Tara's head. "She sounds great, and I kinda owe her one for sending you to Fandom, you know?"

"And I'll thank your dad, too, if I meet him," Tara promised. "And Constance. For ... not freaking out."

"I think Dad would like you," Kennedy decided, in the tone of voice that hinted that she'd make him, if he seemed inclined not to. But then, she kind of thought it was impossible for anyone not to like Tara. "They both would. I mean, I do, so..."

"So the only important part of your family already does?" Tara suggested, going pinker.

Kennedy laughed, resting her cheek against Tara's hair. "Yeah. Pretty much. But they wouldn't like you as much as I do."
