Atlantis Resort - Tuesday [Rooms & Activities]

The skies over Atlantis were clear and bright with just a few puffy white clouds to give that feeling of perfection in the very air. In the night, the resort had been reset, everything fresh and new, from smooth beaches to full buffets. Whatever the Fandomites hearts desired was there and ready for the taking!

Hinata knew better than to take off her sunglasses while out on the beach--this was not Fandom, her white-on-white eyes would stick out and she had no interest in spending her day explaining that they were contact lenses.

Which, of course, was a lie. But, Hinata judged that it would be easier to explain that way.

She tucked herself under an umbrella, with a book, and quite content to read while absently fiddling with the sand. Yes, she was wearing a bathing suit.

... Yes, she had her coat on (unzipped, at least) over it.

"Hey, Hinata," Ender greeted, gently. He'd been around the beach for quite a while, much like the previous day, but he figured he'd give her some time to settle in before approaching.

He waited in front of her, not about to sit down without an invitation.

"Ender," she said, smiling slightly as she marked her place and closed the book. "Hello. W-Would you care to sit down? I promise the umbrella will not fall down."

"And here I was wondering about the precarious set-up you had here," Ender said, returning her smile. "But I think I'll risk it just this once."

Invitation given, he did sit down. "How's your break been so far?"

“Calm,” she said, shifting to get more comfortable. Hiding a soft laugh at the idea of sitting under an umbrella that was likely to fall. “Th-Though I’ll have to remember my glasses while here. Everyone has a comment about my eyes if I don’t. I sh-should have expected it yesterday and yet it completely slipped my mind when I went out to explore.”

Snoop. Scout the area.

“How has your break been?”

"Have you ever considered buying contacts?" Ender asked, curious. "They're probably a little easier to keep up. And more believable."

He scooted back a little to make the best out of their position. "I'd say calm," he confided, "but I have a Jedi trailing after me like a puppy." No offense, Ben.

She shook her head. “Sh-Should there be anything that I need my eyes for having contacts in would only hurt.” Hinata did not want to think too hard about how contacts would feel when she activated her Byakugan. Her nose wrinkled very slightly. “The glasses are a compromise.”

A sideways glance.

“Puppies follow people for many reasons,” she noted, lightly. Not prying but observing.

... Sorry, Ben.

Ender cracked a slight grin. "At least this one gets distracted when you throw it some ice cream," he joked. He wasn't about to go into the why, after all. "Is there a condition you have that causes your eyes to look like that, then?"

“Ice cream is an excellent distraction.”

Hinata lifted her shoulders in a shrug. “It is no secret,” she told him, “th-though few ask outright. My eyes are a family peculiarity tied into our—powers, Fandom would say.”

Bloodline limit.

He tilted his head curiously. "Would that openness extend to telling me what it is? Or just what harm it'd do to get contacts." He didn't want to give her the impression he was digging for state secrets.

After all, that just tended to hamper curiosity.

“Enhanced sight,” she said, smiling briefly. “Near 360° vision and increased distances.”

A glance at him.

“Th-Through things, as well.”

Ender's eyebrows went up, and he whistled. "The boys will have to watch out around you," he joked, keeping his voice gentle. "And contacts would make that problematic."

She blushed at that—it was a comment that never failed to get a reaction.

“Skeletal and circulatory systems are n-not particularly something I’d spy on for little reason,” Hinata replied, amused despite the blush.

Because, really, things meant through skin as well.

Ender made a mental note - he just couldn't not. The part of his mind that was still a military strategist got to work on the problem immediately.

"I'm just trying to get into the Fandom spirit," he said, lightly. "But I can see where that's not very attractive."

"Interesting, at times," she allowed, "and useful, but not attractive."

Just... not.

"It was a nice attempt at Fandom spirit th-though," Hinata teased lightly. "Almost perfect."

"I spend a lot of time around people who care about radio squirrels," Ender pointed out, sounding a little amused. "I'm not sure I'll ever make it my own, though."

"And you do not care about the squirrels?" she asked, lips curving up. "I am sure you will get it eventually. Before I do for sure."

"I have a splendid and likely suicidal lack of interest in the small mammals that report on the ins and outs of my life's gossip," Ender said, wryly. "Probably because the big ones never did me any favours about that, either. But you and I, we can form our own enclave together."

“An enclave of two?” she asked, amused. “Sh-Should we invite other people or would that make it too loud?”

There were other things to ask there, of course, but that seemed the safest for the middle of the beach.

"Too loud," he said, easily, "And too Fandom."

“Perhaps with a few rules?” she said, smothering a laugh. “No talking a-above a whisper.”

"And only one innuendo every two hours," Ender filled in, stretching his legs. "Maybe then we can actually get some work done."

“Would we have goals?” she mused, eyes laughing over her sunglasses. “Something to work towards? That would keep our little community busy and provide something else for everyone to talk about.”

"All decent societies have goals," he agreed, "But I think we'll have to forget about the biological kind they usually use. Building ourselves a homeland? That's usually a good second."

She laughed softly.

"We should not tell those we invite of that lack before they join," Hinata noted. "Or we will have many rejections and have to d-deal with staring."
