Atlantis Resort - Monday [Rooms & Activities]

Monday brought more sunshine and blue skies to the imposing Atlantis resort. The beaches laid open and welcoming, the drinks were fruity, and the people were already milling around in the sun. A thousand bottles of suntan oil popped open - it's the Bahamas, and paradise is just the word of the day. Enjoy yourself.

Her suit was perfectly fine and, in addition to the bikini, she was wearing a huge grin. "Gotcha!" She had her finger poised perfectly to poke his nose when he turned to look at her. "Hi Jaime!"

Jaime didn't respond. He was too busy staring at Momoko. In a bikini.

Give him a second. Or five.

Okay, but at three, she was looking at him curiously, and at four, she was checking the suit herself.

"What? Is it bad? They didn't have pink. Dinah said it looked okay, yesterday. I can totally go change, if there's something wrong with it today."

"Nonononono," Jaime stammered. "It looks..." He swallowed audibly, and when he spoke again he was staring down at the sand and his voice was close to a mumble. "Looks really good on you."

Ah! Was he blushing again? Hee! She ducked so her head was below his and she could see his face. "Jaime? Thank you! You look really nice in your trunks, too!"

Look up, Jaime! "Did you get a chance to come out yesterday at all? Hey! How come I didn't see you on the causeway when we left! I looked for you!"

Great. Now he was blushing more. He kicked the sand and kept staring at his feet.

"You're welcome," he mumbled. "And I came late. From home."

He was so totally cute when he blushed! Okay, he was totally cute when he didn't blush, but...

"Eh?! Home?" That was totally allowed, so he was forgiven for not being there! "Was it someone's birthday? How was everyone? I bet your sister missed you, right! Did you bring pictures?"

Was he intent on ignoring her? She decided to forgo the chairs and plopped down onto the sand right there and held up her glass. "Tea?"

Momoko was totally spoiling Jaime's brilliant plan to not stare at her. How was he supposed to be suave and cool around cute girls (that he knew) who were wearing bikinis?

"Why does it have to be a special occasion to go visit my family?" he asked with a grin. "It's Spring Break, and I haven't seen them since January! And Milagro's fine. Just as big a brat as ever."

He was busy looking away from her so he sort of missed the offer of tea.

Momoko chuckled as she set the tea on her other side, pulled her legs up and wrapped her arms around her knees. "It doesn't have to be any occasion," she looked up at him with a grin and considered some options. "I just don't hear too many people talking about going home just because they want to. I'm glad! You seem like you had a nice time!"

"And if it bothers you that I'm here, Jaime," she reached up to poke the back of his knee and maybe topple him to the sand beside her, "I could go lay on the lounge chairs and be ignored by all the guys heading back from the bar, you know."

"It was nice," Jaime agreed, letting himself flop down next to her.

Then, thinking about what she'd said, he frowned. "Why would it bother me if you're here?" He even glanced over at her, but then away quickly again.

"Some time you are going to have to show me pictures of where you live, you know!" She grinned, glad he finally sat down, even if he wasn't looking at her. "So I can imagine it when you talk about it. I haven't been anywhere in America yet! And I don't know why it would bother you, but you seem to not want to even look at me."

She reached for her tea. "So, have you looked around yet? I cannot wait to try that Cave Grill place!"

"You'll have to visit sometime," Jaime told her. "Better than pictures." And then, very, very deliberately, Jaime turned to look at her. "And I can look at you just fine." Even if his eyes kept beginning to drift downward and then snap back up to her... well, forehead was probably a safe place to focus...

"You keep saying I should go back with you and you never actually take me!" Momoko's grin became bigger as she FINALLY caught on to why he was acting so weird. She blushed and leaned over to give him a peck on the cheek. "Thank you!"

He was lucky she was holding the tea or she'd probably have tackled him in glee: he really thought she looked that good in her suit?!

Jaime blushed and blinked in confusion. "I'm getting a thank you for not taking you to visit El Paso?"

"Nooo. For that you have to buy me dinner or lunch or ice cream or something. Oh!" She pointed at a woman leaving the water. "Or go with me to find one of those hats! So cute!"

"Wait, how does that work?" Jaime asked, sounding even more confused. "You already thanked me, you can't put a condition on it after the fact!" That would be cheating.

"I totally could!" Try her! "But that wasn't why I was thanking you! You owe me for not taking me home with you, introducing me to your family."

"But if I owe you, why thank me?" Jaime needed to know what he did right so he could do it again!

If he took the chance and looked at her? She was blushing again, but grinning from ear to ear as she watched the water move against the beach line. "Because you think I look good in this swimsuit!"

Jaime almost squealed 'I didn't say that!', but then his brain caught up with him. He kept staring at his feet. "Is it that obvious?" he muttered. He'd thought he was doing such a good job at not staring.

She wriggled her toes, digging her sandals into the sand. "Well, either that or you won't look at me because you think it looks really really bad and you can't bear to look at me because of it? But I think you'd totally tell me to go change if that was true. Or at least offer to walk me back to the hotel or offer me your towel or something so people wouldn't see me."

...

"It's not that, right?"

"No, no, no!" Jaime insisted immediately. "It's..." he swallowed, and when he spoke again it was much more quietly. "Not that at all."

She looked... Well. Yeah.

More toe wriggling, and perhaps a shoulder bump. "So, thanks! It's not like I have anyone else telling me I look good. Well, except for Dinah, but that's not the same thing." At least not for Momoko. "So I guess, I should say that none of the guys have."

Jaime sat up straighter, and his voice sounded indignant. "Well, then the guys must be blind." Because, duh! Momoko was really pretty!

Momoko laughed, she couldn't help it. Jaime always seemed to be able to make her laugh. She looked out over the beach again, thinking about that and wondering. "One especially," she accidentally added, her eyes widening a bit as she realized she'd let that slip.

She tried to cover it up with a distraction: "So, fancy a swim? I bet I can beat you in a race!"
