Kellerman's Resort, Saturday Evening, October 17th

It was the last night of a magical week here at Kellerman's. It could only be hoped that everyone had the time of their lives. That they'd never felt this way before.

But we swear it's the truth.

And they owe it all to the wonderful camp for putting up with everyone's shenanigans. Bobby.

"You dance well enough. I've no need to worry about it," Beka told him. She tugged him to an open space on the dance floor before she turned to face him.

Oh yes, that got a grin. "Told ye," he smirked, reaching for her other hand to place it on his shoulder and waiting for the beat of the music.

"Don't think I've forgotten that you've still not answered," she told him. Even if her question hadn't been that forward. She was more certain now that he had been up to sommat.

Shhh, it was dancing time now, and he spun her out into a fast measure of one of the dances from home.

"Still haven't," she assured him, even if she was glad to follow him. She did like dancing and this was familiar.

"I did forget the question," George said innocently. "Were ye askin' how me week's been?"

"Sommat like that," she conceded. "Mayhap you need to do some memory exercises."

He snickered. "Aye an' will ye be suggestin' some, Beka?"

"No," she said simply, still following his lead. "I'm not your Watch Sergeant."

"Tis just a comment here," he said teasingly as they danced. "But they don't have no Watch Sergeants in th' Court."

Beka rolled her eyes at him. "And you've decided that'll be the path you follow?"

He waited until the measure ended and they were dancing close again for a moment. "Did ye know what path y'd be follow' when ye were 14?"

"I knew what path I'd follow when I was eight," Beka corrected. She had, but then she'd not have grown up in the Lower City if she'd not imagined herself to be the Rogue at some point.

"Then why d'you question me?" he asked more curiously than defensively.

"Because I'm a Dog." Mayhap there was more. She'd plenty of friends who were part of the Court of the Rogue. She'd kissed the Rogue but two weeks ago, but she'd not stop worrying.

George grinned brightly at her, his eyes flashing with mischief. "Sound more like me mam."

And he tried to push her out into a spin before she could reply.

She let him, because they were dancing, but she'd not forgotten their conversation when her hand came back to rest on his shoulder. "Your mam isn't a Dog."

"She'd've been if she didn't have th'Gift," George said with a grin. "An' ye question like her."

Re: Kellerman's Farewell Party

[identity profile] provostsdog.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
"She'd have made a fine Dog then," Beka reasoned. "She's got the Gift?"

"Callin' yerself a fine Dog now?" he asked, looking amused. And he nodded. "Aye, twas a Priestess of th'Goddess afore."

Re: Kellerman's Farewell Party

[identity profile] provostsdog.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
She made a face at him, but didn't respond. "She didn't strike me as a Priestess," Beka said, surprised.

"Isn't no more," George said with a shrug. "She had me."

Yeah, he felt badly about it. Shh.

"And such a fine young lad you are," she said, reaching up to tug a lock of his hair.

He ducked his head at the tug, giving her an amused look. "An' tha's Beka Cooper sayin' that, ladies and gentlemen. Has t'be th' truth."

"I'd not lie," she said easily, her hand falling back to his shoulder as she met his gaze.
