Kellerman's Resort, Saturday Evening, October 17th

It was the last night of a magical week here at Kellerman's. It could only be hoped that everyone had the time of their lives. That they'd never felt this way before.

But we swear it's the truth.

And they owe it all to the wonderful camp for putting up with everyone's shenanigans. Bobby.

Hannibal was not going to be dancing with Mat but he did recognize him for a few reasons.

"You're rooming with my girlfriend," he said without preamble. "You behave?"

"Funny," Hannibal said, laughing humorlessly. "Not who I meant. Talking about Angela. You're roommate. Simple yes or no will suffice."

He could still be a little jealous.

Mat blinked. "I haven't seen the person who was in the room here since I put my things down there," he said. "I haven't exactly been spending time there."

"And one of the reasons I'm not that interested in ever having a girlfriend," Mat replied. "I prefer not to be that bloody invested."

"I'm eighteen," he shared, shaking his head, "and I don't think it matters. I'm not telling you to find a girl and settle down, man. Just that...it can happen to anyone."

"Only if you stay still long enough," Mat said, "so no. I'm not Perrin with the wife with the knives and the glaring and the stomping and the making sure he never doesn't anything fun."

"Buddy, I've never been all the way sane," Hannibal said, smiling thinly. "I'm protective. I just wanted to make sure. Not all guys are gentlemen."

"Buddy, I don't know you," Hannibal said, shrugging. "Thought it better to ask than just to start punching."

"Thank you very much for that," Mat said dryly. And he'd thought that Arthur was the more unreasonable one of the pair of them running the frat. "I'd never, ever hurt a woman. I have four sisters."

Two of whom were now on the way to being bloody Aes Sedai, something Mat didn't want to think about. They'd been annoying enough without the Power.

"I come from a very, very small village," Mat said with a smile. "If anyone had an eye on one of my sisters, I've known him all my life."

"Then, you're lucky," Hannibal said, shrugging easily. "I'm not trying to offend you here. I'm just...protective. It's a thing. It's not you."

"It's a rather insulting thing," Mat said evenly. "You're lucky I'm not Ebou Dari. They'd duel for less."

Ebou Dari would duel over an ill-timed sneeze, mind...

"And I'm not apologizing for being protective," he said and shrugged. "It is what it is. I'm not looking for a fight and I'm not going to try and explain things to you because you can't see my perspective. Wasn't trying to insult you, though. Take my word or don't."
