Arrakis - Sietch Tabr - Wednesday Morning & Afternoon

It was around dawn when the scent of food began wafting up from the kitchens. Fresh baked bread, coffee, and the lilting tones of Fremen chattering in a mixture of Galach and Chakobsa as they went about their lives.

If they were a bit more outgoing and less-wary of the visitors than they had been the day before, well, going out into the desert to meet with Shai-Hulud had shown a certain daring and respect, and those were two traits that the Fremen held very dear.

The portal would arrive to pick them all up around three, but until then, the visitors from Fandom had the run of Tabr.

Although it still didn't make you safe from the Aunties.

"Please," Leto said. "Not here. I can explain later." If he had to.

After a pause, he added: "Anything else?"

Dinah looked down. "Your dad. With his eyes... you were on a sand dune with him, and a butterfly. One of you said something about the Golden Path." She frowned. "And I knew it was a hard choice, because you knew it, I guess. And the words 'my skin is not my own' and 'why?'"

"I don't know what it means, Dinah," he said quietly.

"That was something I heard in the dream, I mean," Dinah clarified, perching her chin on her hands. "That was..." It felt real was the thing. "It's important to you, isn't it?"

"I don't know what it means." It was almost true, even if it didn't answer her question. "I'm sorry you had to... overhear."

"Yours was a lot better than some people's," Dinah answered, thinking of the dreams right before his. "Weird, and confusing, and--" Sad, with his father there. "And all. But not frightening." She half-smiled. "Francine has nice dreams, she helped me get back to sleep."

"Always something." He wanted to reach out and hug Dinah's shoulders just to comfort her, but held himself back.

Dinah would've accepted it. She almost reached out for Leto, too. But not quite yet. Soon, maybe. She'd be able to do that again, without it meaning anything else.

"Yeah," Dinah sighed, rubbing her eyes. She remembered him talking about Merlin being dangerous, and felt bruised that he'd been right. Diverting herself to something else, she asked, "Will you tell me what the Golden Path is? Sometime?"

"Sometime," he said. Perhaps not soon, though. "Will you be ok?"

Another slight smile, and then a more serious self-check. "I think so. Although I really don't know how that alternate me stood this place, if she was having dreams like that all the time." Dinah shook her head, overwhelmed. "I love your planet, but I just... yeah. Way too intense."

"There might be ways to control that," Leto replied gently. "But I hope it won't keep you from visiting, should there be an opportunity in the future. It might be wise to be a little cautious with what you eat."

"Just a little," Dinah gently teased back. "But no. I'd like to come back. See Arrakeen, maybe." She smiled at him. "You're a lot more at home here, aren't you. It shows."

"It's where I belong." It made him happy to hear that Dinah saw it. "And I hope to be able to invite you to my time at some point."

"I'd like that," Dinah admitted. "And to meet your Ghanima. Although I guess I can't, since then she'd have recognized me-- time travel sucks, you know that, right?"

"I do know that." He smiled at her, but it wasn't entirely cheerful. "I am stuck between two points in time, it seems. But eventually I will have to go back to my own."

"Then I'm definitely visiting you, when that time comes." Dinah smiled at him. "And sometime you have to come to Gotham. Just to see it."

"I would love to go with you." He smiled. "And meet your family there."
