The Crown Princess/Fandom - Sunday [Cabins, Ship, and Causeway]

All good things must come to an end, and sadly, it was time to say goodbye to the Crown Princess. The crew was hard at work readying the ship for its arrival back at port, and the cruise director assured the passengers that they were still on schedule to disembark at noon.

The weather was still warm and sunny, for those who wanted to take one last dip in the pool or soak in the hot tub before it was time to leave. The ship would be thoroughly checked to make sure there were no stowaways later.

"What? No, it's not like I need to be neat and organized or anything," Rodney waved off her offer as he tossed things in his bag. Really, he didn't want her to find any of his boxers.

"Okay," Adora shrugged. "You know, I'm going to miss how warm it is here. I heard it's going to snow in Fandom tonight."

"I know," Rodney sighed. "Half the reason I was happy to be out of Canada was the weather. It should be spring in Virginia by now," he grumbled.

"Oh, perhaps Fandom should go there next," Adora replied, not understanding that the island used to be in Virginia but had only recently moved to Maryland. "I was hoping for this California place."

"Hmm, California would be nice," he agreed. "I'm going to school there in the fall."

"Oh? What school is that?" As if she would have heard of it.

"Stanford," Rodney answered. "The physics and engineering departments there are some of the best in the country," he expounded.

"Oh, I thought perhaps you were a chemist with your personal sunscreen," Adora replied.

"Chemistry's useful," he acknowledged, "but, it's nowhere near as interesting as theoretical physics. That's where the real action in science is."

"Absolutely," Rodney nodded as he threw the last of his things into his bag. "All the major breakthroughs are being made there."

"I see. So you will discover important things that will theoretically help others?"

"Of course," he nodded emphatically. "The pursuit of knowledge is helpful to everyone."

"It is good that your world has time for such extended education," Adora remarked. "Perhaps I will learn things from people such as yourself to take back to mine."

"Yeah, it's a plus," Rodney refused to feel guilty for being from a First World country. "I'm, um, sure you'll bring back lots of helpful... stuff." He didn't have a clue as to what she'd consider helpful.
