The Crown Princess - Tuesday [Rooms and Lido Deck]

The ship was at sea all day today, but that wasn't going to stop the fun. The sun was still shining brightly in the sky, dousing sunbathers in its heavy rays, and the water looked positively azure along the sides of the boat.

The Lido deck remained open for summer joy, with little umbrellas in every drink.

"Did you bring those with you or did the ship have them?" Ned asked, already getting a few ideas.

"I brought some of them," Claudia admitted, "like the Girl Scout cookies, but the snack shop has been good for getting refills."

They already knew her name there.

"I've never had Girl Scout cookies," he said. "Are they different from regular cookies?"

Claudia's mouth opened about as wide as it could. "Never?" she gasped. It was a fairly loud gasp. "Omigod, where did you come from?" She dove back towards her bag. "Girl Scout cookies are almost better than sex," she informed him, handing him a peanut butter sandwich cookie.

"Uh, boarding school," he answered apologetically. "We didn't get a lot of things from outside places. A lot of our food was prepared and all."

For a moment Claudia's thoughts drifted to the oldest Pike girl--Melody? Melanie? something like that--who'd gone off to boarding school. Maybe she should've sent her cookies.

Or remembered her name.

"That's terrible," she said, still horrified. "Eat the cookie. These aren't the best ones, but those would melt out in the sun."

"What are the best ones?" Ned asked around a mouthful of really, really good cookie. "The Girl Scouts sell these every year?"

"Every year," Claudia said, nodding. "Sometimes they add a new one. The best ones have chocolate and coconut and are completely better than mediocre sex."

Ned flushed bright red and looked down. "I've never compared cookies to....anything but cookies."

"I compare a lot of things to junk food," Claudia said cheerfully.

"But, cookies and...S-E-X," Ned said, spelling it out because he was five, "are two different things."

Claudia splashed her feet into the water and laughed. "You're spelling it out? Are you five?"

"No!" Ned said, turning redder. "Just...there are older people around. They might be sensitive."

Or he might be five.

Claudia glanced around. "It would serve them right for eavesdropping," she declared. "Creepy nosy old people. Besides, being old and staring at this many teenage girls in bikinis is gross."

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"I thought they'd be on a special old person's deck," Ned admitted. "Where they could be...old."

"Complain about their joints aching," Claudia agreed. "They're getting old people smell on things."

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"And some of them are eating cookies too," Ned said, feeling his brain momentarily die just thinking of the comparison of cookies and sex.

Claudia laughed at him. "Yes, some old people still eat cookies," she teased. "That's why there are Viagra ads."

Re: Neptune's Reef & Pool

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Viagra?" Ned had been sheltered.

Poor Ned. Claudia was about to ruin cookies for a while. "For keeping their cookies...not limp?" she tried.

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ned grimaced and immediately started choking on his cookie.

He was never eating cookies again. Never ever eating them again.

Claudia laughed. "Are you okay?" she asked, leaning in to pound him on the back.

Re: Neptune's Reef & Pool

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cookies are ruined," he coughed. "Oh god, never eating them again."

Re: Neptune's Reef & Pool

[identity profile] gudspellr-claud.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, sure you will," Claudia said. "No one remembers what I say very long."

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I will." Ned winced and gagged quietly. "I will forever see old people when I see cookies."
