Rumor had it there was a big room party happening on Wednesday night, but there were also still options for those looking for something a little more private to do, or just less party-minded.

The weather was mostly behaving as well, although perhaps with a light, refreshing sprinkling of rain here and there.

Halfway through the trip, people, try not to miss out on any Québécois fun!

Look, Vi was working on her anger issues, but there was some very deep seated rage there.

"I love you too," Vi called back, before engaging in a few minutes of quiet conversation with the person in charge of the music and taking to the stage.

Hey, technically it wasn't a Taylor Swift song she was singing, it was a cover with gayer lyrics.

Rage that was perfectly understandable, if you asked Steph, but she liked to try and give Vi reasons to feel more positive emotions instead.

"The judges will accept the queered-up version, I guess," she yelled, and made a show of shaking her head, grinning.

Judging by how Vi was beaming when she came off the stage and flopped back down next to her, she was doing a pretty good job of that.

"Still willing to be seen in public with me?"

Steph tilted her head and looked thoughtful for a moment, then heaved a dramatic sigh and reached for Vi's hand.

"You're cute, so yes. I guess. I just might have to disclaim that I am not responsible for your taste in music."

Vi gladly took it and squeezed. "And here I was telling everyone I learnt it all from you."

"Hey now. I introduced you to Hayley Kiyoko. I'm not responsible for what the algorithm does from there." Steph brought Vi's hand to her mouth and kissed each knuckle.

"Seriously though, you did great. Proud of you."

"Sure you're not." Vi leaned her head against Steph's shoulder. "This was a a great idea. I'm having a lot of fun."

"Me too." Steph kissed the top of her head. "I get to have adventures with my girl. What's not to love? We are so coming back here this weekend, before we leave, by the way."

"Okay," Vi agreed easily. "And we've still got our fancy dinner."

She was pretty sure she'd spent more on her outfit for that than on clothes in her life, which admittedly wasn't that high a bar to clear, but was still vaguely intimidating.

It was intimidating. Steph completely understood that. Thank god they could live for a week off of a single food delivery order back on the island.

"You're going to look so hot." Steph picked up her half finished rum and Coke, raising it to Vi in a toast. "You always do, but you're gonna be next fucking level."

She was a little sad that it was too cold for her to get away with her plan of wearing a fancy dress vest with no shirt underneath.

There was absolutely nothing stopping Steph from wearing that for a dinner in. Well, except maybe the fact they'd never make it as far as dinner.

That was literally the only reason Steph had vetoed the idea.

She'd definitely bought the vest for a later date, though.

"I know so," she said, waggling her eyebrows at Vi over the rim of her glass. "It's literally physically impossible for you to not be hot as hell."

Somehow Vi would have to hold out until then.

"I mean, I guess it takes one to know one," Vi said, with a grin. "How do you manage to walk down the street without setting everything on fire?"

Steph laughed. "The nerdiness acts like a dampening layer. Call it a safety precaution."

"No, that can't be it, the nerdiness makes you even hotter." Vi, most people didn't kink on that. Because they were dumb.

"Yes, well." Steph feigned a sigh and shook her head. "Some people are losers and don't grasp that."

So basically what the narrative had said.

"Lucky us." Steph toasted Vi with her drink. "Sucks to be everyone else."

Steph glanced past Vi and quirked an eyebrow, more in amusement than anything but she still leaned in close to Vi's ear and murmured, "Some chick over there is checking you out."

She wasn't inclined to do such things as toss Vi over her shoulder and run away with her, but hey, if Vi wanted to be demonstrative about it...

Don't lie, Steph, if you could throw Vi over your shoulder you'd probably be tempted.

"Is she?" Vi didn't even look over her shoulder as she leaned in to kiss Steph, long and lingering. "Sucks to be her. Maybe she can hook up with one of the girls who've been checking you put."

Oh, she'd definitely be tempted, but it wasn't happening so she didn't think about it much.

"See, we're doing people a public service," Steph decided, cuddling up against her. "Improving people's social lives, and for free even. She's allowed to think you're hot, though. It's a correct opinion."

Vi kept her arm slung around Steph's shoulders and idly glanced in the direction Steph had earlier. Just because she wasn't interested didn't mean she wasn't curious.

"Glad you think so." Since otherwise Vi'd still be sadly pining after her.

The girl at the other table suddenly grabbed her drink and took a sip, but not quite fast enough to hide her crestfallen expression.

Except now she was kind of checking Steph out, too.

Steph rested her head against Vi's shoulder and put a hand on her knee. "In case there was any doubt left after we've been dating for how long now..."

A terrifyingly long time, actually, so it would remain a question.
