Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Québec City, Québec [Monday, October 20, 2024 ]

It was a sunny, perfect day today. You might not even need your trapper hats! As a bonus, the school had rented a double-decker Hop On Hop Off bus so you could accidentally leave them there! Do not throw them from the bus. People would yell at you in French and English.

Rise and shine, Fandom! Or hide in your ridiculous rooms throughout the castle! Anakin doesn't care enough to find you all.

Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral

Normally, Liliana would swan right past a church, probably with a sniff of derision as she did. However, this church happened to have a crypt. A 'notable' and 'historic' crypt. A crypt with nine hundred tombs in it.

Well, don't mind if she did.

"On the bright side," Ignis couldn't help noting at one point, with a faint grin on his face and a hand neatly settled on the small of Liliana's back, "if things do decide to go terribly awry here in Quebec City, we'll have an excellent contingency plan for battle."

"And this is why I adore you, my darling," Liliana said, resting her head on his shoulder briefly as they walked. "Most anybody else would be trying to insist that I not do, oh, any of the things I'm generally inclined to do in crypts."

Instead here he was, strolling along with her, as if wandering through crypts were a common choice for a romantic walk with one's paramour. While offering teasing suggestions for when she might indulge herself in a bit of necromantic activity.

Nine hundred crypts.

"An excellent source of rich black mana, too. There's plenty of white and blue above, with a few splashes of green, but red and black have been sorely lacking."

She was just going to luxuriate in that feeling as much as she'd been luxuriating in their hotel earlier.

Well, when one's paramour was a necromancer, it just simply followed...

"Well, just so long as you're not just going about pursuing any old necromantic notion for o great purpose other than the mere fun of it," Ignis pointed out easily, "then I can't comprehend the issue. If that were to be the case, though, I have to admit, I might have to feel compelled to at least some amount of disapproval."

They key, after all, to a successful relationship truly was a bit of compromise!

Well, now she was pouting at him. "Hardly 'just for the fun of it,'" she informed him. "Necromancy is my vocation. Anything I do is for professional reasons."

Don't make her stop having starry-eyed notions about you, Ignis.

"Which is why," Ignis assured her, practically feeling that pout and going to soothe it with a kiss, "I haven't even the slightest concern. If our afternoon were to suddenly become far more ghoulish than anticipated, I know it will be for a very good reason."

Yes! Like because she wanted to go crypt-robbing! Or get a better, more authentic historical guide! Or because she felt like it, but, you know, professionally.

...She actually highly doubted she'd be indulging any necromantic impulses while she was here, however. Even back in her Multiverse, where magic was expected and common, people generally frowned on their holy dead being reanimated. They weren't so far removed from the last torch-and-pitchfork mob that she'd forgotten.

"It would be fun, though," she said, a little wistfully. She hadn't risen anything just for funsies in months. "I bet there are some lovely bones down here."
