Luke, a tall golden droid, and the Ewok chief Chirpa, were waiting for the volunteers when the portal finally deposited everyone on Endor. "Welcome," Luke said, giving them all a smile, "and thank you in advance for your help."

He gestured to the Ewok. "This is Chief Chirpa, the leader of Bright Tree Village, where we'll be staying for the next few days." Chirpa bowed to them, then spoke a few words. The droid shuffled forward to translate. "Chief Chirpa welcomes you to Endor," he said, words coming out pinched and precise, "and requests that you make yourself at home. If there is anything he or his warriors can do while you are assisting their neighbors, please let him know."

There was a brief conversation between Threepio and the Chief. "Or tell me and I will convey it," Threepio said. "I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations, and will be serving as translator for you during your stay here. Do watch out for the bugs, and the large drops, and the variety of creatures found in the forest..."

Luke shook his head at him and Threepio stopped speaking. "He worries a little too much," he explained with an easy smile. "If you'll follow me, you can drop off your stuff in the visitors' quarters and we can get started building some huts."

"You look overdressed," Ronon replied gruffly, checking out her getup.

"Yes, well, I didn't know we were going to be in the jungle," Pepper said simply.

"This is no jungle," Ronon chuckled. "No animals to attack."

"There's trees and mud and stuff," Pepper pointed out. "And probably insects. It's a jungle in my book. And how do you know there aren't animals? There could totally be some kind of giant alien leopard or something waiting to kill us and eat us."

And now that was all she was going to think about for awhile.

Ronon's chuckled deeply, "Big trees, furry animals, it's a forest. 'Course, we could always go hunting for some other animals if you think we could find some." He hadn't been hunting in a long time.

"You hunt?" Why was she surprised?

"Since I was six," he smirked, massive gun strapped to his thigh and knives hidden all over his person. "You?"

Pepper managed to not ask if she looked like she hunted, and simply replied, "No, not so much. Not really a 'nature person' in general, actually. If you can't tell, what with the whole thing where I'm wearing Louis Vuitton stilettos in the middle of a jun -- um, forest."

"What'd you think we'd be doin' here? And what's a Louis Vuitton stilletto?" Ronon wondered, taking another look at her unfriendly outfit.

"...networking. I didn't know I'd actually be building," she sighed, feeling a bit stupid. "And they're my shoes. I'll wear my sensible ones tomorrow, probably."

He tilted his head and drew a machete-like knife from his back. "Bet we could make those ones sensible."

"They're fine as they are," Pepper said, wide-eyed. "Really. I spend my life in four-inch heels, I promise."

"Suit yourself," Ronon shrugged. "Looks like a pain, though."

"I don't think I even feel my feet anymore at this point in my life," she said, smiling slightly. "Thanks anyway. Do you always carry around big...knifey things, or just when you're in forests?"

She wasn't judging. Her boss wore a red and gold robotic suit and fought crime, after all.

"Anytime I'm off campus," Ronon nodded. "Never know when something'll go down." Which sadly, happened more than one might expect.

"Smart," Pepper remarked. "I carry pepper spray. And not just because I think I'm funny. But maybe I should learn to shoot or something. I keep hearing stuff."

"Shooting's fun," Ronon grinned, showing off his teeth. "Easy, too, if you get the right kind." Like his energy rifle, mhmm.

"What do you mean by 'the right kind'?" Pepper wondered. "Like pistol versus shotgun?"

"Sorta. You look the type who needs something to stun, not kill," Ronon replied. "Stunnin' people never gets old."

"I've never done either," she admitted. "Though I also have a taser I never use. It did always look kind of fun."

"You and me should hit up the gun range sometime," Ronon suggested. "Maybe we can tase the mayor guy for fun." His smile should indicate that was supposed to be a joke.

Pepper actually laughed. "Do you not like him?"

"Don't really know'm," Ronon shrugged. "Asked a lotta questions, though."

She made a little face, though to be honest, asking questions was often her job, too. "But yeah, if you want to go to the range sometime, I'd love to. As long as you don't let me shoot myself in the foot."

"You shoot yourself in the foot and you won't be worrying about your Louis Vuitton," Ronon grunted.
