Luke, a tall golden droid, and the Ewok chief Chirpa, were waiting for the volunteers when the portal finally deposited everyone on Endor. "Welcome," Luke said, giving them all a smile, "and thank you in advance for your help."

He gestured to the Ewok. "This is Chief Chirpa, the leader of Bright Tree Village, where we'll be staying for the next few days." Chirpa bowed to them, then spoke a few words. The droid shuffled forward to translate. "Chief Chirpa welcomes you to Endor," he said, words coming out pinched and precise, "and requests that you make yourself at home. If there is anything he or his warriors can do while you are assisting their neighbors, please let him know."

There was a brief conversation between Threepio and the Chief. "Or tell me and I will convey it," Threepio said. "I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations, and will be serving as translator for you during your stay here. Do watch out for the bugs, and the large drops, and the variety of creatures found in the forest..."

Luke shook his head at him and Threepio stopped speaking. "He worries a little too much," he explained with an easy smile. "If you'll follow me, you can drop off your stuff in the visitors' quarters and we can get started building some huts."

Tully did a double take at Penelope's nose. But fortunately he'd already met G'Kar so unusual appearances did not elicit the stares they might have otherwise.

Then he frowned when he saw her shoes. "You should get some boots." he adivsed her. "You could do actual damage to your feet working in those."

"Oh, hello, Tully," she said, not realizing that she'd worn her scarf last time they spoke.

Penelope looked down at her heels. "I've always just had these. I never thought about anything different to wear."

"Well it might be too late now." he admitted. "But when we get back you might want to think about getting some shoes more appropriate for this kind of thing."

"Thank you for the advice, Tully," she replied politely. "I will see to it as soon as possible."

"You're welcome. Do you travel to other planets a lot?"

Penelope blinked at him. Did she look like she traveled to other planets a lot? Maybe it was her nose.

"No. This is the first one I ever been to."

Well she'd been in Fandom longer than he had. "Good, it's not just me then."

She smiled. "No, it's not just you. I imagined I have stared so much that others from here must think me strange."

"We're big, hairless aliens." Tully laughed. "They probably think we're all strange anyway."

Penelope giggled. "Me especially."

"Hey I've done plenty of staring too." Tully said. "Not as much as I might have before I came to Fandom maybe."

"It's really different from home, isn't it?"

Tully looked up at the trees which still towered above them. "Well there's places in North America at least with trees that look like this. Except I think not as tall. But I've never been to those places so this is completely new to me."

"I never have been anywhere where trees are so tall and wide. Except for here of course. But explaining to my parents about this adventure would be rather difficult, so I'll keep the fun of it all to myself."

"Yeah if my friend Willy hadn't come to visit a month or so ago I doubt any of my friends would have believed what was going on either."

"I suppose some things just aren't worth sharing," she remarked with a wry grin.

"Sure they are. Just with the right people."

Penelope smiled brightly at him. "That is very true."

"So you could just tell your parents you went on a school trip to a forest to build huts. That still makes sense right?"

"It does make sense, except my mother would prefer I didn't go anywhere."

"Well she let you go to a private school in America right?"

"Mhm, but that is different. It's a school for gifted and unusual children. Going other places, that is not entirely the same thing."

"Well that makes sense. Guess secrecy's the best course after all."
