Endor [Monday, December 29]

Luke, a tall golden droid, and the Ewok chief Chirpa, were waiting for the volunteers when the portal finally deposited everyone on Endor. "Welcome," Luke said, giving them all a smile, "and thank you in advance for your help."

He gestured to the Ewok. "This is Chief Chirpa, the leader of Bright Tree Village, where we'll be staying for the next few days." Chirpa bowed to them, then spoke a few words. The droid shuffled forward to translate. "Chief Chirpa welcomes you to Endor," he said, words coming out pinched and precise, "and requests that you make yourself at home. If there is anything he or his warriors can do while you are assisting their neighbors, please let him know."

There was a brief conversation between Threepio and the Chief. "Or tell me and I will convey it," Threepio said. "I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations, and will be serving as translator for you during your stay here. Do watch out for the bugs, and the large drops, and the variety of creatures found in the forest..."

Luke shook his head at him and Threepio stopped speaking. "He worries a little too much," he explained with an easy smile. "If you'll follow me, you can drop off your stuff in the visitors' quarters and we can get started building some huts."

Indiana wasn't sure how exactly he'd been shang-hai'd into being a chaperon for this trip.

He also felt a weird sense of deja-vu around the... walking teddy bears. He also didn't understand why they were all looking at him and muttering things.

He started wondering if he would be better off at the library.

And now there was a kid looking at him. Swell.

"Is there a problem, son?" he asked pushing his hat back.

Of course.

"Yeah," he said with a sigh. "Something like that. Is that why these furry guys are looking at me all funny?"

"Part of the tribe, huh?" Indiana said looking around. "I don't suppose we could pass the word around that I'm not him? Or would that even work?"

John dropped his rucksack off in the corner, muttering to Sparky to stay out of sight. Of course the little dingbot kept trying to pop out of his shirt pocket.

The walking fuzzbuckets were... He kept thinking they were oversized drop bears.

"Hey John." Billy smiled. "They roped you into the charity work too huh."

"Billy!" he said with a grin. "How are ya, you pirate? Harrrg." He struck a pose with a bit of a hook hand. "Good to see you!"

He grinned even bigger at the 'charity work' line. "At least I'm not in a suit..or picking trash off a highway. This is better."

"Oh yeah. I'll take building in the forest, even an alien forest, over road work anyday."

"Hell, over office work, either. Can work on my tan." Nevermind that he was wearing long sleeves and pants.

"Learning to sail is good for that too." Billy said, maybe a bit smugly. He loved going to school in Florida.

"This is the part where I glare at you for being chest-deep in bikini coeds, right?" he said with a wink.

"Yes, glare away. You are of course, welcome to come visit anytime."

"How about now? There's something like twenty feet of snow back home." He was exaggerating.
tyler_gone: (is that so bad?)

This was really freaking weird, but it didn't seem to be the bad kind of weird, and Tyler had slept in many worse places. He put his duffel on a mattress and went to explore.

Dawn set up her sleeping bag, sliding the stake under her pillow and beginning to dig through her bag for her tools.

Okay, maybe Xander's old tools, but he probably wouldn't miss them.

Lacey surveyed her sleeping bag with an expression that rapidly failed at carefully concealed concern and dove straight into "oh crap."

She'd never been any good at roughing it.

Tully was starting to doubt the wisdom of his decision to tag along on this trip. Sure he was getting used to Fandom and it's ways, but was he really ready for a voyage to another planet?

He dropped his bag on one of the cots and looked around. He'd stayed in worse.

Pepper was going to die here.

That's really all there was to it. She'd never been very good at...sleeping in things that weren't beds, she'd brought exactly one pair of shoes that might work for this sort of climate, and she didn't exactly love heights.

Also, no internet.

So, she set up her sleeping bag with all the meticulousness one would expect before patiently doing her very best to get a signal on her Blackberry.

Good luck with that, Pepper.

Deciding whether or not to go to Endor had been a hard decision for Billy. And it had nothing to do with the right thing, or helping others. It had all been about whether to spend as much time as possible with his family, whom he only rarely got to see, or going to spend time with his friends.

In the end, his friends won. The fact that he would be helping those harmed by a vicious terrorist government was only an added bonus.

He had no problems with the accommodations.

Arya approved of the accommodations. She was used to making camp outside. She definitely had plans to wander the forest later, oh yes. For now, Arya occupied her time with setting up her sleeping bag.
