Rotorua, New Zealand [Tuesday Morning into Afternoon]
Get set for a big day in Rotorua!
Start at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, a spectacular showcase of New Zealand's most colorful and unique geothermal elements sculpted by thousands of years of volcanic activity. Explore the out-of-this-world landscape, including the famous mud pool, the largest in New Zealand. Arrive at 10:15 am to hear the history and see the beauty of the Lady Knox Geyser, which erupts daily to heights of 33 to 66 feet (10 to 20 m).
Or you can go back to the swings (or the luge that are up by the swings), try the skydiving, or stay close to the lodge, which also offers activities for the day.

Re: Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
And, you know, part of her really had questioned whether spending her morning going to a mud pool was the very best use of her time?
That was before she got here, of course. Now she was busy taking as many pictures as she could.
Re: Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
She was, though, at one point going to stop, erm, just admiring the landscape enough to sidle up Irene oh-so-casually, to lean in a little and ask, "So. How much money you want to put down on the fact that, when the geyser goes off, Beaker's somehow in it?"
Look, raise your hand if you'd be disappointed if it didn't happen.
Re: Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
"That's not something we need to worry about as chaperones, is it?" Irene wondered with a vague note of concern (for herself, mostly, and whether they'd have to be responsible about this), before actually getting to the important bit, which was, "At least twenty bucks NZ, though."
Which was, tragically, only about twelve US dollars, but it also seemed like an incredibly safe bet.
Re: Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
And she'd take that all the way to court, if she had to!
"And as a guest, I'm pretty sure not responsible for any of it,actually. Seems like it's a little less of a concern in general now that we're transitioning to an older, allegedly more responsible student body now, anyway."
