Welcome to your first full day at Nihi Sumba, kids! The temperatures were in the late 70s and low 80s, the sun was shining, and the beaches were waiting.

And if lounging around wasn't your kind of thing, well, there was plenty to do around the island.

If you've surfed before, you are in for some of the most amazing waves in the world. If you're a beginner, you're in for some classes before they let you out onto some of the most amazing waves in the world. Or you can sign up for a Surfari, where the resort provides a car, a boat, and a guide and you go out searching for that perfect wave.

Surfing was definitely not something Gladio had ever really done before, but he was intrigued about it and had been thinking about doing a lesson on it in his class one of these weeks, so the opportunity to get right in there with the gorgeous waves was definitely something he was going to take advantage of.

Especially now that his center of gravity was back where it should be, too.

Connor, with a good breakfast in him, had headed back to the room to change into his swim trunks and was now down at the beach, waiting for Cutter. He was both excited to be getting a lesson on windsurfing, but there was also that faint niggling of concern that he would just end up making a fool of himself. As he waited, Connor pushed that worry out of his mind, for the time being at least, and focused on the amazing view spread about before him.

A short time later Cutter arrived, after getting the appropriate gear that they needed so that he could try and teach Connor how to windsurf, he smiled when he saw him watching the view.

"It's pretty amazing isn't it?" he said softly as he approached.

Oh look. Speaking of amazing views.... Connor turned and gave Cutter a grin.

"It is. Hard to believe places like this still exist right?"

"I know," Cutter smiled at Connor and then looked out at the ocean in front of them, "it's something I'll never get tired of looking at that's for sure, it's one of the reasons I love Wind Surfing, being out there in the elements, it's an incredible feeling,"

"Can imagine. Must be amazing," Connor said glancing back out over the water for a moment before turning back to Cutter. "I've been to the beach a few times on holiday and all, but never anywhere tropical and definitely nowhere like this!"

He gave a slight smirk and laughed softly. "I'm almost torn between wanting just to dive in head first and almost being afraid it will ruin the magic, ya know?"

"I know the feeling," Cutter said with a smile, "did you want to have a bit of a swim first before we start the wind surfing lesson?"

"That actually sounds nice," Connor said with a nod. "Might be good to get warmed up and all before we start too."

"Then we'll have a swim first as a warm up and a lesson after?" Cutter grinned as he nodded back towards the water, "we've got the whole day in front of us as well, so we've got plenty of time,"

"Aye! And it's not like the water is suddenly not going to be here tomorrow either." Connor looked over at Cutter and gave a sly grin. "Race ya, Nick! Last one into the water is a rotten raptor egg!" he called out as he suddenly started to run down the beach to the water.

Cutter really should have expected that shouldn’t he?

He stood there for a moment and realised that Connor already had a good start on him as he got moving.

“I’m getting too old for this,” he shook his head as he began to jog, even though he was grinning as he made his way toward the water.

Connor ran for just a minute, stopping once he got about knee-deep in the amazingly clear water and waited for Cutter.

"Sorry," he said with a sheepish grin and a 'couldn't help myself' shrug.

Cutter couldn't help but smile at that as he eventually made his way into the water, "I hope you'll be this enthusiastic for our lesson later," he grinned and then he paused and then splashed some water towards Connor.

It turned out Cutter did actually have a fun side, who knew?

And it was nice to see that side to be honest.

"I am hurt that you would think otherwise..." Connor started with a mock look of surprise. But that faded when the splashes started, and he sent a kick or two of water towards Cutter with a laugh and then turned and ran further into the water, ducking under the water once he was deep enough.

Cutter let out of a laugh of his own, which felt rather weird ... when was the last time that he had laughed that much? as Connor kicked the water in his direction, he swam out further to try and catch up to him and sent several splashes over in his direction.

"You'll have to do better than that," he laughed as he started to float backwards now that they were starting to get deep enough.

Connor finally surfaced a little ways away and shook his head to shake away some of the water and looked over with grin.

"I'm sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of you getting soaked!" he said with a laugh as he sent a few more splashes over towards Cutter then stopped and just watched for a moment.

This was good... it felt nice... right... and he was glad to see Cutter enjoying himself like this.
