Welcome to Australia Zoo, started by Steve Irwin, better known around the world as the Crocodile Hunter.

It's open 'til late late tonight, so you've got lots of time to explore and enjoy.

The trains leave the city regularly, so you can hop on one whenever it's convenient and head on down.

Stupid story time:

I was on Green Island (off the coast off Cairns) many many years ago, and they had a crocodile habitat. This consisted of huge cages, filled with BIG crocodiles, and there was only wire fencing between us and them as we wended our way down narrow corridors, hudreds of crocs all around us. Freakiest thing ever.

This was not exactly a reputable establishment, and there were several cages with small holes in the wire. Against one of these holes a croc (who would have been plus eight foot long) was leaning. I, being the idiotic teenager I was, decided to pat it. VERY quickly and with just the tips of my fingers but HOLY GOD that was stupid.

I STILL get freaked out remembering it.

And that is my stupid story!
