When you sleep under the stars, the day starts very early. Bonus: the Maasai Warriors taking care of everyone have arrived with coffee and tea for the suites to drink as you watch the sun rise. The second bonus: sunrise is the very best time to go on a game drive where the giraffes are, and the zebra and see all of the animals!

Guillermo had been up extremely early to go on the dawn trip and aside from all the bouncing, he actually thought that this was a great way to be able to see the local wildlife and he was looking around, completely amazed that he was getting to do something like this.

As much as Libby didn't want to miss anything, she figured it was also good to give her poor eyes a break every once in a while, which gave her the opportunity to grin over at Guillermo when she spotted him.

"This is all pretty amazing, isn't it?"

“It definitely is,” Guillermo grinned, “can you believe we’re actually in Africa?” it was going to take a while for that to still sink in.

"No," Libby admitted with a laugh. "I can't! I swear, I've pinch myself so much my arm is turning red, just to make sure I'm not just dreaming it all! But, well, if I am, I haven't woken up yet! Oh! And did you see the stars last night?"

As if they'd be hard to miss.

She just gawked at him a moment longer, because sometimes, there just were no words.

“I did,” Guillermo said excitedly, “they’re so bright and clear here, it was amazing being able to stare up at them,” he nodded with a grin.

"You can see plenty of stars all the time back home," Libby noted, her grin gone faintly wistful and almost a little apologetic, because Guillermo was from New York, right? She'd heard that you couldn't see many stars at all in big cities because of all the light pollution, but, at the same time, that probably meant that made the night skies out here even more special for him. "But these are really something else. And our rooms! Sure beats just a tent in the backyard! Who'd you end up with as your Trip Roommate?"

“I love the rooms and being out in nature like this,” Guillermo grinned, “it’s definitely nothing like the Bronx that’s for sure,” he laughed.

“Oh and I’m rooming with Harry for the trip,” Guillermo told her, “how about you?”

"Oh! Harry!" Libby smiled with recognition as if the mun hadn't completely failbombed that interaction. "With the glasses, right? Oh, he seems nice.

"And I'm with Jo, which is really probably one of the best roommates I could have gotten! Not that that's anything against the other girls!," she added quickly, realizing how that might sound a little too late.

"It's just that Jo and I already get along very well."

She blinked as she thought about how that might sound.

"Although....now that I mention it, it wouldn't have been bad to get to know some of them a little better..."

“Yes that’s Harry, he’s pretty nice I’ve only really talked to him the one time before this so i guess it’s good to try and meet more of my classmates,” Guillermo nodded, which still felt rather weird to him that the other students would actually be willing to talk to him.

“But that’s cool you and Jo get along,” he nodded, “she’s in a couple of my classes,” he told her.

Libby's eyes shifted to the side a little as she thought. "Well," she said, "I know all three of us are in at least home ec together."

And Libby was also going to take a moment to sort of relish in the fact that she sounded like someone actually going to a real school, now, talking with friends about their different classes, and the fact that the class in question was a traditionally feminine sort of thing, but there were not only boys in it, but also a male teacher, which still was boggling her mind a little.

"I...think that's it, though," she decided. "For ones we might all have together."

“I think it might be,” Guillermo considered, he was also finding it rather strange to just be talking about class schedules and what classes he had with other people and he had to admit that talking to a girl was still a weird experience, he was half expecting Libby to realise what a mistake it was talking to him and stop, “I have Dr. Lecter’s cooking class and PE with Jo,” he told her.

"And I have...Lit and Movies, and Trauma class with her," Libby said, head tilted as she tried to remember....

...and then wondered, all of a sudden, if she was just being weird. Normal kids probably didn't eagerly talk about their class schedules while on an amazing adventure on a whole new continent! She felt a little awkward about it now, and looked out again over the landscape.

It was nothing but a wistful move, but it turned out to be a distraction, gasping at an elephant that had actually ventured quite close go the car.

"Oh! They're so big!"

Thankfully, she was self-conscious enough in that moment to not just throw in some cheesy joke about the Ark just then.

“Oh wow,” Guillermo exclaimed and got out his camera to take a photo because it seemed like a good opportunity to get a few close up shots of the animals, “they’re amazing aren’t they?” he said, “I never thought that I’d be up so close to one,”

"That one was so close, too!" Libby boggled a moment at Guillermo as if half-expecting him to tell her she'd just straight-up imagined it, but she could easily turn back to confirm. "Oh! I wonder if we'lm get to see a giraffe that close!"

And she chuckled a little, thinking of all the picture books of the Flood story and how they all seemed to have a giraffe poking its tall head out the top of the Ark.

"Or their necks, anyway," she grinned, with a lift of her hand, stretching high up to emphasise the point.

“Maybe we’ll get lucky,” Guillermo grinned at Libby's example of a giraffe's neck, “and we’ll get one friendly enough who wants to say hello,” were giraffe’s friendly? he didn’t know but he did have to admit that that would be cool to get even more amazing close ups.

“Can you imagine if we could see something like a lion up close?” he exclaimed and then paused, “well maybe not too close but I think that would still pretty be cool,”
