Happy Friday everybody!

You're still in a hole.

But again, at least it was a hole with a bowling alley! And an ice cream shop! And a fire station, a mansion, a music store, several warehouses and oh hey, also a whole bunch of cannons now!

At least the pirates had brought along some rum?

Rey found a place to sit when there wasn't anyone around so she could settle in for some meditation. It was Friday and all.

She ended up having a conversation.

So there was that, when she opened her eyes.

Travis waited until she opened her eyes, then sat down next to her at the campfire.

"Meditation, huh?"

"Yeah," she said, frowning a little. "It's training day."

And hey, she'd just learned she could do a thing that didn't involve a mental bond with a stalker!

Travis nodded. "That's good. Good on you for sticking to it!" He grimaced awkwardly. "I sound like a middle school guidance counselor. What are you training for?"

"To be a Jedi. It's a... space monk sort of thing." That seemed to be the easiest way to explain it these days. "I'm training with Master Skywalker... who I just talked to?"

"You talked to someone?" Travis said, that statement entirely overriding any response he might have had to 'space monk'. "Up on the surface?!"

"Yeah. I don't have much to tell him, but at least someone knows our situation," she said.

"Did he tell you anything? Do they have any ideas on how to get us out of here?"

Travis was used to working with a team, and keeping in almost constant contact via radio. He had a mental image of a giant incident command on the surface where they were assigning people quadrants and planning strategic searches. He was reasonably certain none of that was actually happening, having, you know, met Fandom, but that was what he pictured anyway.

"Vague, I think." And Rey didn't think the rope would work but people had been through enough and she wasn't going to say that. "We talked it through some, though. It seems like it's expanded from donuts so they can hopefully work more from there."

"So . . . I guess we should expect more people to show up," Travis said with a sigh. "Still. At least we made contact. He'll keep you updated?"

"We were going to get more people anyway, just hope they pull down more resources we can use," Rey told him. "I should be able to get in touch with him whenever I need to, I think, so I can check in."

She'd never initiated contact before and was kind of excited about it.

"Good." Travis deflated a little in relief at that. "I tried radioing and calling when I first got down here. Not being able to communicate was driving me nuts."

And the fact that no one seemed to have noticed he was gone in the first place, though he was doing his best not to hold it against them. He'd been kind of hiding away in the station for awhile, after all. Why should they notice someone who never made themselves known?

"Rock's too thick for that," she said, looking up. "Maybe if there was a message we could get out timed with a hole opening up."

"Yeah, I noticed that thickness with my powertools." Travis nodded towards the ceiling. "Seen you doing a bit of something up there with that glowy baton thing of yours, you had any luck?"

"Some. It's going to take a while, and it'd be easier if I could stay up there," Rey said. "But I at least marked a spot that we could aim for if we get more ways to work at it."

Travis nodded, then tilted his head.

"I have a 100 foot ladder on a truck. Would that help?"

To, you know, get her up to the ceiling at least. Within light saber reach.

"I can use a 100 foot ladder," Rey said immediately.

Travis's smile was wider and more real than it had been in ages.

"Well. Let's get it set up for you then." He stood, then paused. "I'm Travis, by the way. I'm not sure if we've actually officially met yet."

"Rey," she said with a smile of her own. "How long does it take to get the truck moved over?"

“Not long. It’s fueled up and on its wheels so I should be able to just drive it over. It’ll be loud and smell bad, but it doesn’t look like anything’s in the way we can’t go around.”
