Brisbane, no matter what Sydneyites or Melburnians might say to the contrary, actually had quite a nice slice of culture.

Museums and galleries were centred around South Bank, itself home to gardens, restaurants, and a man-made, self-contained beach.

Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art

Comprising quite a nice collection (http://www.qag.qld.gov.au/home_uplate), the galleries are a calm and peaceful place to spend an hour or two.

Now this was definitely Angela's sort of place. She could spend hours upon hours looking around the exhibits.

It wasn't like she had class to worry about today, so the chances were she'd be there most of the afternoon sketching some of the pieces for later inspiration.

Wander South Bank

Originally the site of the 1988 World Expo, it's now a bustling hive of entertainment. Dining (http://www.visitsouthbank.com.au/dining), shopping (http://www.visitsouthbank.com.au/shopping"), Streets Beach and the Parklands (http://www.visitsouthbank.com.au/attractions) await.

When you've had enough of that, you can hop on a City Cat to cruise the river or head back to Fandom Island.

Brisbane yay!

Random trivia: About eight years ago, a whole bunch of my mice (around fifty) spent four weeks in the Queensland Art Gallery as part of an exhibition called 'Animals Who Think They're People'. They had tnhese HUGE luxurious acrylic, multi-level tanks, inside a bright pink and may windowed cubby house. They were spoiled rotten, got cleaned out every day, and generally loved it.
