Aizuwakamatsu, Japan, Thursday [Daytime]

Time to leave behind the hustle and bustle of big city life and head to somewhere a little quieter! Today we're back on the train and heading to Aizuwakamatsu.

"In exchange for labor," Stark countered. Sure, he hadn't done much labor yet but who was to say he wasn't going to next week? Surely a class on what to do when things start to go wrong would be useful!

"Part of the compensation package. Compensation is important." You agreed with that, didn't you Anakin? One formerly enslaved spaceboy to another?

There was a half-hearted glare coming from the depths of the hood.

"I didn't make the schedule."

Yes, he knew that was a terrible defense.

Anakin's lips quirked up. "I'm sure you didn't."

"I'm not sure who did." Or if there even was a schedule. But it was probably Constantine.

"At least I haven't been thrown off a balcony yet." He had a murderous roommate, Anakin! "Just slept on the floor. For days."

"It's good for your back to sleep like that," Anakin said, nodding.

"My back is fine and has slept on plenty of floors already," Stark replied. "More than plenty. So many floors. Dirt floors stone floors ship floors cell floors hotel floors..."

Well. He was distracted from the karaoke now at least.

"At least the hotel floors are clean..." Unlike so very many others.

"At least there's that. Much nicer floors in the hotels."

Anakin grinned. "You're really laying it on thick."

"Am I?" Stark asked, pushing his hood back so he could give Anakin his best wide-eyed innocent look. "Would I do that?"

Yes. He would.

Anakin laughed. "It certainly seems like you would."

"I suppose it does," Stark agreed, then let out an only slightly exaggerated sigh. "Didn't help, did it?"

"I could try harder," Stark offered. "If it would help."

"It would not help," Anakin said, chuckling, "but thank you for the offer."

"Probably for the best," Stark said. "Some things are best left alone. Don't need to revisit everything. Or everywhere I've been."

That was a little more subtle at least.

"I have enjoyed most of this. Just not the sleeping arrangements." Or the regret after singing karaoke.

"The temples have been very nice," Anakin agreed.

"They have been!" Stark nodded enthusiastically. "They were beautiful. Very calm."

"It's a nice change from the trip where a student went over a waterfall in a barrel," Anakin admitted.

Stark paused then shifted in his seat so he could see Anakin without turning his head.

"Were they all right? And why?"

What had he missed in previous years?

"Because it was there, I think," Anakin said. "And they were fine. Physics...worked differently...for Beaker. It was odd."

"It sounds odd. Very odd. At least we haven't had that."

Honestly, Stark had sort of expected more things to go wrong than just the lack of beds. He wasn't going to say that out loud though.

"Well, there's a waterfall today," Anakin said, "so...hopefully no one will remember."
