Osaka, Japan - Sunday Afternoon - Evening

Osaka might not have been a tropical paradise, but temperatures hovered around a tolerable 60 degrees Fahrenheit and the skies were clear. The city was bustling, and would remain so well into the evening; as for Team Fandom, they were guided through the streets of the city to the traditional temple lodgings of Waqoo Shitaderamachi.

"Really, if you're going to potentially start a competition, that's the one to do," Rey laughed.

And let's all be real, Summer would win.

Even on a normal day, it would pretty much be no contest. But now it was war declared with distraction backed up behind it.

Annie didn't stand a chance.

In fact, seeing an opportunity present itself, Summer bolted up to her feet, whipping out her phone and brandishing it like a weapon, and the same could be said with her smile, too. "I'm already wasting precious selfie time," she declared, then gestured Rey over with an arm raised, poised and ready to sling over her shoulder to pull her in for a shot. "Let's get one of you and me to get this started, and then I should probably score the grounds for the best shots before taking it to the streets."

Rey was pretty sure the only pictures of her that existed were ones where someone else had wanted a selfie.

She came over, getting in close to fit in the shot. "It's good that you're taking this seriously."

Or at least it probably gave her something to do besides think about whatever had been bothering her when Rey first came in.

Picture Wars were, like, so super serious by default, Rey. But Summer beamed at her as she shifted the phone into position for a perfect shot as she sang pit, "Say 'Serious Like a Heart Attaaaaack~~'!"

Honestly, a selfie of her and Rey was literally the best and only way to get this started, too.

"I'll just smile," Rey said with a laugh, smiling.

It saved the weird faces you got from actually saying that phrase in a picture.

Oh, Rey, please. Like Summer wouldn't know how to time it just right to get it perfect mo matter what phrase was uttered!

Sure, she was no Prompto, who could somehow take full body selfies while right in the middle of a battle, or something, but she could beat the lens off of him when it came to angles and timing.

Case in point, a great shot of herself grinning and Rey adorably in the middle of her laugh. "Ohmygod," Summer grinned as she proudly showed it off, "I love it. Perfect! You could seriously not ask for a better shot than that!"

She took another swift one for good measure and then saved it to her phone for later. "Okay," she said, "I'm gonna see who else I can snag before everyone gets really settled in. If you see Barry, let him know I dibs this one for us and you guys can, like, exchange keys or whatever? Awesome."

And then she'd busy herself with pictures and sightseeing, and she could drink in Japan and Osaka probably had a great nightlife so by the time she dragged herself back to the room, it would practically be morning already, and she can just throw herself into whatever they were doing that day...

...perfect. It would totally be perfect and cool and fine and...

"Of course," Rey said, and added, "And maybe you and I can hang out at some point this week."

Where she could unabashedly check up on her.

"Well, duh," Summer rolled her eyes, but she was grinning at Rey all the same. "Obviously. You didn't think I'd let you just hole up with Joo~ohnnn all week, did you?"

Plus, Manditory Girl Time was a fantastic avoidance device.

"We probably wouldn't be holing up that much on vacation anyway..." Rey joked.

"Good," said Summer, sincerely. "Because there's going to be way too much stuff to see and do for that, anyway. If that's all you were going to do, you might as well have just stayed on Fandom, though I guess there's a certain novelty in switching up locales for holing every once in a while, too."

"It's a great excuse for date night, too," Rey said. "You can't stay in too much then."

"Oh, totally," Summer gushed, and the next part tumbled out of her mouth before she could even think of stopping it. "Maybe we could even double date one of these nights!"

God dammit, Summer, you bitch! This. This is why so many of your weekends ended up like this last one....

But it was fine! It was one thing to say it, another thing to actually do it. Like, she's said she'd take Lucille and Tisarwat on a moon double date a million years ago, and that clearly panned out...

And the dangerous part of that was that it'd get this genuine answer out of Rey:

"Sure. Let me know when works for you and Barry and I'll talk to John."

And the real kicker here was that Summer actually did think that sounded, like, super nice and awesome...

"Oh, for sure," she said with confidence, while the conflict raged within, "just not Wednesday, because, you know. Jello shot room party."

"Already in my schedule," Rey promised.

"Good," Summer felt more pleased about that than she probably should, but it just felt nice when her friends were all in on her stupid jello shit. "And hopefully it goes better this time than the last."

Stupid haunted theme park, messing with her jello plans!
