The Temple of Hermes - Sunday

The team arriving in the Temple of Hermes had had about as much of a fun time as the team headed to the Temple of Nemesis. Despite the rough night, they had made it and the temple seemed to be in good shape. No one came here but the caretaker, who wasn't here today. It was too far out of the way for anyone to bother with it, and anyone who had tried to loot the place in the past had found themselves the victims of unfortunate accidents.

Arrival/Mingle

Look around, examine the statues, have a snack. There was no need for extra lighting here. The temple was well-lit and airy. The main chamber consisted of pillars of marble (much like the rest of the temple) and an altar with depictions of the god Hermes, a hip-looking guy with a laid-back attitude and snazzy clothes.

Xander wasn't so hot on the idea of having snacks in a god's temple when they were dealing with real gods. Just a vague feeling of yeah no. He did, however, examine the artwork of Hermes. "Nice shoes."

The temple was both similar and very different from the ones Seregil knew back home. He glanced over at the artwork at Xander's comment. "Perhaps we can pick you up a pair if we're lucky," he teased.

Cimorene was walking around, studying the temple as well. "Maybe they have a gift shop out back." She said dryly.

Descend

Whether by chance, accident or intention, a block on the altar was pushed in and the marble floor before the altar sank into the mountain to reveal a well-lit staircase. The staircase into the mountain thing? Yeah, gods all used the same architects for their secret hideaways.

Xander shrugged. "My first high school came with a hell-pit. It's pretty hard to surprise me with built-ins anymore."

"I lived in a set of caves that had a very nice stair case leading up a mountain." Cimorene pointed out. "I'm not complaining about something that makes our lives easier. Though I would watch for trick steps."

Pressure Points

Once the team was down the staircase, they found themselves in a chamber. There were six (convenient that) squares on the floor where the marble was raised from the rest of the floor. Stepping on one would lead to the door closing behind them. Trial and error (and a convenient etching on the wall that depicted it) would lead to discovering that all six points needed to be stood on to open the far door, but doing so in the wrong order would lead to the walls starting to close in. It would be apt at that point to say you had a bad feeling about this. Better hurry to get it right.

Seregil looked around the room the stairs led them into, being careful not to touch any of the raised stones. "Interesting," he murmured, going over to look at the etching on the wall.

Wyatt moved into the room and crouched down beside one of the squares, looking it over. "Step on 'em and poison darts may come out of the walls," he said. "Or at least that's what happens in the movies."

The Girl

The walls stopped moving and the door slid open to reveal a rather curious sight. There was a girl playing what could only be described as hopscotch. She passed from one side of the room to the other without any problems by singing a song and doing some actions as she hopped, skipped and jumped. Trying to walk to the far door would leave you bouncing off an invisible wall, unable to pass. And yet the girl passes through just fine.

The girl wouldn't respond to anything. She just kept doing the same old thing. Trying to touch her would reveal that she wasn't really there. She was an apparition.

First, Alex tried just walking after the little girl up to the wall. He could see her, right? So he ought to be able to go after her.

Yeah, not so much.

He thought about it for a moment. "Okay," Alex said. "Okay. I think I know what we have to do. But we're going to look like idiots, so let none of us ever speak of this again. Especially to Jen."

He started to imitate the little girl's song and dance routine as he moved across the room.

"Oh, come on!" Wyatt said. He was really really really glad Anders wasn't here to see this. With a sigh, he hopped and skipped. And sang in as low a voice as he could get away with.

Xander had once performed (and thus admitted he knew) the steps to Spice World to get a ghost to let them out of the Common Room. This was... He sighed. "All I ask is if you god-people are filming this, sell it for a decent price. I don't wanna see it on Youtube tomorrow morning."

And then there was hopping and singing.

Speak The Truth To the Lyre

The door was unlocked on the other side of the girl's room. She disappeared once all of the team members were through. The lyre was sitting there on a stand at the far side of the room. It glistened in the light that seemed to come from nowhere.



A plaque stood before the lyre's stand, understandable in any language. Really, they all use the same architect.

Step forward to seek Amphion's lyre, bestowed by Hermes, if your cause is noble. Only those who speak the truth may pass and reach their goal. Liars and thieves, while treasured friends, can only go so far.

Once the first person spoke the truth to a question asked of them, a door would open on the far wall leading directly to the surface. Only once they all passed would they be able to touch the lyre. Any attempts before that would meet an impassable, invisible boundary.

After going through the last challenge which would be RPed later once a teammate got back online Peter came into the room and looked around.

"Well," he said, thoughtfully, "this looks promising."
