Athens, Friday morning/afternoon
After an entire day of fruitless Portalocity wrangling, Athens, circa at least 400 BC (asking the locals the date gets you nowhere), was where the Fandomites would stay.
At least there's a lot of wine and no set drinking age? And the weather is crisp and beautiful? And togas are flattering on everyone? And everyone's speaking English with Greek accents because that makes sense? And the bandits out in the hills are super smackable, if that's your idea of vacation fun?
Enjoy your blast waaaaaay to the past, Fandom. Have some more wine. The water might give you stomach distress.

HOTEL φάτνη (Friday)
Rooms (Friday)
At least everyone had a very nice bed? Two a room, even
or one big one for hijinx. But don't expect much else from these walls, folks. At least someone will be by with wine (or a non-alcoholic beverage) and flower petals later?
[[ your room assignments are here! Please make sure to keep anything posted here to PG-13; anything else can go in your personal journal. ]]
Room 208
Of course today was the day she discovered the radio podcasts. TODAY was the day she finally listened to one.
Today was the day she was sitting in horror on her weird ancient bed and staring in horror at her phone.
"... I can never leave this room. I live right here now. This is my new life in exile."
She was going to die of mortification. Not that she would complain if it had been a date, but--!!
Breakfast! (Friday)
(Or wine. There is always the wine.)
Re: Breakfast! (Friday)
So far, she'd pretty much just come up with the same thing she did yesterday, which was drink wine and enjoy people in togas.
There were worse ways to spend a Friday than drinking wine and enjoying people in togas, though, really.
Re: Breakfast! (Friday)
She just figured she'd earned it. Or that she needed it for the rest of the days here. Athens was beautiful, but... She was also a thoroughly modern young woman, okay?
As you could tell from how she was scrolling through pics on her phone while having said breakfast. Her spotty internet connection from yesterday had died completely by now, but that might have been for the best. Not being connected to news from 2018 would perhaps be the real vacation.

Courtyard (Friday)
(Of course there's wine.)
Re: Courtyard (Friday)
It seemed it would be much more difficult for him to charm his way into the hearts of the people of this city than it had been the last, and he greatly missed being so much closer to the sea. Sure, it wasn't too far, but it was hardly as accessible and prevalent here.
There was a fountain and a pond in the courtyard, though, so he was comfortable enough there, and found the opportunity to at least partake in some of the wine that seemed so popular here, though he wasn't entirely sure what to make of it yet.
ATHENS AND SURROUNDS
At least Portalocity has thoughtfully changed all your tender to drachmae. The exchange rate was even...mostly correct!
Acropolis
Take a sneaky picture, put it next to one with it in ruins and confuse the hell out of your relatives at Winter Break.
Re: Acropolis
But he had scrounged up some of his drachmas to buy some clothes that fit the period. Why not? These threads seemed cool as hell
and gave the opportunity to use these icons, so at least he kind of blended in? As well as a super hyper blonde kid in a overly-accessorized Grecian garb snapping pictures at nearly everything under the sun could be, anyway.Theatre
Re: Theatre
She wasn't sure it was a good thing, really, if it was the latter, all things considered...
Re: Theatre
So far his verdict was that the seats were not comfortable.
The Agora
If you've ever wanted to be sealioned by a bunch of Greek philosophers great and small in real life, now's your chance!
Plus there's snacks and wine here. Mmm, snacks.
Re: The Agora
And aside from the 'fresher situation, she kind of loved it here. She'd done some reading on Greek art and culture and it made it can better to be surrounded by it as it happened. She was pretty content to wander around the town and check out the monuments and watch the sea lioning from a distance.
Re: The Agora
handwavilyspent most of her day wandering Athens, taking in the sights, worrying about how few pages were left in her sketchbook, but she saw no reason to switch it up and do anything differently today, though she maybe decided to hang around the Agora a little bit longer, just finding a place to sit and watch and listen and soak it all in in between trying to capture it all in charcoal and lead. She felt a little out of place, sure, far more visible and noticeable than she was used to, but she figured, hey, it shouldn't be something an apparently experienced time traveler such as herself should be bothered by.
Bandits!
Go for a walk to a nearby village and get jumped! Fun for everyone!
[OOC: For those who like a little bit of excitement in their vacations. Please no life-threatening injuries.]
Re: Bandits!
The bandits, funny enough, were something almost reminiscent of home. And half of them didn't even stick around for the fun part once they saw him call his falchion to his hand, appearing in a splash of seawater, barnacles encrusted across the blade.
Throwing an eldritch blast at the one closest to him seemed to scare off the rest. Apparently Earth bandits were far more easily spooked than the ones from his own world, go figure.
Re: Bandits!
Nina wasn't exactly looking for a fight (she was totally looking for a fight) when she wandered out of Athens and into the surrounding area, looking like nothing so much as a small, blonde girl with a few books with her. Perhaps she was going to read? It was a nice day, after all, and if a person wasn't aware that her books were her preferred method of attacking... well, it was an easy assumption to make.
And bandits just loved the apparent easy bait of a young girl out and about on her own… right up until they got a bookbelt to the face or got slammed with a lightning bolt.
It made for an excellent way to get some serious practice in. Lord Shu would be pleased with her initiative.
Nina laughed as she spun, looking for more.

"You have no one to blame for this but yourselves," she sighed, jabbing the blunt end of her spear into the calf of one part of a pile of bandits. "Why don't you find something more useful to do with your time?"

Though word spread fast among the local ruffians, apparently, and after the first two hours, Yang was putting her tracking skills to use to ferret out the ones that had been smart enough to go to ground.
Yeah, encouraging a bandit village to vacate sounded like an AMAZING vacation!
Re: Bandits!
Lana had really just been looking for something more interesting to do. When she felt them coming, she slammed the first one back into two more with a swipe of her hand, then caught them with lightning when they were off-balance. A few more ran away as the three squirmed in agony.
Lana sighed, looked them over, then took their pouches. Turn about was fair play, really.
