Bali Hai, going to the birds

If you follow the winding trail from the beach into the rainforest, you'll find a broad clearing, loud with the cries, cheeps, and twitters of the tropical birdlife. For many years, locals and tourist alike have come here to feed them, to the point where the birds are the next thing to tame.

Vendor's stalls will sell you birdfeed, and when you venture into the centre of the clearing, the birds will descend, perching happily on your arms, shoulders, or the ground around your feet to be fed.

When you tire of that, look way up to the restaurant in the trees. A winding staircase carries you up up up into the tree tops. You can sit outside, or better yet, swing in one of the many hammocks, while your waitstaff brings you all manner of delicious drinks and delicacies.

Fed and watered (or something stronger), stroll along the boardwalks to enjoy a leisurely look at the rainforest.

Amber was taking as many pictures as she could, but as the birds began to settle on her arms and head, and around her feet, begging for food, she had to tuck her camera away, laughing.

"Yah, you little guys are so pretty, eh? Careful now, I've enough food for you all." And if not, she'd go buy some more.

If she didn't have her little four chambered heart set so steadily on virology and a nice Dr. in front of her name in a medical sense, Adah might have actually have considered herself to become an ornithologist. So the option of seeing and feeding the birds was actually something that made her incredibly excited, even if she might not let on to the fact that she was a bit of a tropical bird fangirl.

She was trying very hard to not want to teach a few of the parrots how to say "Piss off, Methuselah!" For old times' sake.

Ooh, the minimal shirtage variety was sure easy on the eyes. Amber tried not to stare too much but figured that's why they were shirtless. So she stared and smiled and ate a very nice meal while chatting up a particular young man of the waitstaff variety.

Too bad he was working, dangit. He couldn't stick around for too long.

Amber's sandals dangled from her fingertips as she walked along, enjoying the scenery and the overall peacefulness.
