Jurassic World - 11/10 - Sunday Night

After an interesting portal trip through at least three eras of history, Fandom's students and faculty were dropped off by the Isla Nublar ferry. Those who chose to stay outside and watch would be able to see the island approach, with all its lustrous forests, waterfalls, and high-tech facilities.

The weather was nice. The park was peaceful.

Isla Nublar Ferry

You can spot humpback whales on the way across the Costa Rican Pacific, but the mosasaurs are restricted to Jurassic World! Enjoy your journey across the water, assuming you don't get horrifically seasick.

Atton spent the voyage hanging around at the front of the ship, watching the island get closer and closer. "Not nearly as good as star travel," he muttered.

This just gave him unfun flashbacks to Manaan.

Isabela hung over the railing, watching the whales and feeling the breeze on her face. This wasn't the Call, but it was still a ship on the open sea.

Cosima did not get seasick, which was a good thing because it meant she could be pressed up against the ship railing. She counted whales and hoped for a glimpse of a stray mososaur.

Ada hadn't realized they were going to need to take a ferry to get to their trip.

She could be found inside, thank you, as interior as you could get, and focused on her Wicked Grace cards.

If she focused hard enough on the cards, maybe she wouldn't hear the sea. It was pressing up against the inside of her head and she could taste it, smell it, but maybe she could keep from hearing it, and that would keep her sane.

. . . well. Merrill had wanted to watch for whales and look at the ocean, but as it turned out she was horribly seasick after all, so she was huddled up on a corner of the deck looking paler than usual.

Cassandra, impatient as always, had rushed upstairs to get to the room almost immediately.

It earned her some strange looks, considering the armor, but she ignored that.

Now she was sitting on the bed, taking it off piece by piece. Well. At least nothing had attacked yet.

In a move surprising exactly no one, Isabela found the minibar almost immediately. Then discovered something else about the minibar.

Kitty was a lifelong Cubs fan, who was on vacation during the playoffs. So first and foremost, she was making sure she could get a signal on all her devices because if she missed a clinching game she was gonna be inconsolable.

Frank glared at the minibar in anger. "The only part of this that isn't terrible is the adorable nature of the bottles," Frank said. "Fortunately, I came prepared."

And that's how the desk got taken over by a frightening amount of alcohol that Frank brought with him in case of exactly this.

Anders appreciated the room, and was so excited by the minibar that he grabbed some peanut m&ms and a tiny bottle of wine before he read the price list.

Alana meant to unpack as soon as she got to the room, but the view was so amazing she had a hard time leaving the balcony. She lingered there for several minutes, enjoying a tropical breeze as she watched the waterfall by the pool.

Thorin was pleased to find his lodgings were pleasant enough. For an island of dragons. And no, no he would never be over that part of it.

But for now, he was giving the small drinks a suspicious look. Were they a joke about his height? Damn menfolk.

Okay, on one hand? Decent hotel. On the other, Xanthippe was still pretty sure they were at some lame dinosaur-themed theme park with, like, plastic animatronics and stuff.

Which, ugh.

She dropped one of her bags on one of the beds and glanced around.

Hannibal had unpacked quickly to avoid wrinkled clothes, then spent a bit of time just enjoying the view.

The menus of the hotel were impressive, and he was very much looking forward to trying Jurassic-era plants. And tonight at least, he'd be trying them in the privacy of their own room. There was no way he wasn't sharing this, and making Jono sit in a restaurant after a long day of travel seemed singularly cruel.

When the food arrived, he thanked the bellhop and let him set the table, then tipped him on the way out. "What do you think?"

The hotel serves a number of rocking prehistoric dining options. First up there's Fossil, the trendiest restaurant this side of the Triassic age. Other dining options include Herbivore Kitchen, showcasing produce foraged from the park, and Rex's Steak House, serving up some of the best cuts in Costa Rica.

Claire was not one for trendy places, but she was going to be here a week and figured that she should probably try different places while she was here. Also, how often did you get to say you ate at a trendy dinosaur restaurant? So, she was here, probably getting something overpriced, and checking over the news from home, just to see if anything had made the papers that she should know about.
