Rorikstead, Skyrim, Tuesday Morning

The morning dawned cold and clear in Rorkistead, but it's been a couple of days, so everyone's acclimated and happy, right?

Right?

Well, if not, you'll warm right up after a few hours of hard labor, so up and at 'em, Fandom!

Sorry but Johnny doesn't need to be there today. Barry converted one of his solar generators to heat all the tubs. And somehow even give it some bubbling action.

That's right kids. Barry just made you a bunch of Jacuzzi's. ENJOY!

Flick wasn't going to ask how these old ass tubs were now hot and bubbling (thanks Barry!) but he was going to hop in and enjoy it. He'd kept his shorts on because he didn't need to be caught naked out here.

Now, he was just going to sit and soak for awhile.

Barry was up on the roof thatching away with all the straw available.

Yep. Thatching.

He felt very medieval.

. . . well, why not? Cosette and a few other girls at the convent school used to climb onto the roofs of one of the buildings every now and then just to sneak a look over the walls.

She was in jeans and a very heavy sweater with her hair tucked up under a fleece cap -- that was new, and a rare sight since even when she was wearing contemporary clothing she had invariably stuck to dresses and skirts until now. She'd only bought the jeans before the trip with the knowledge that they'd be doing work, but practical considerations aside, she thought she could get used to them.

So there she was, perched on a ridgepole with some thatching material, singing cheerfully as she worked in a way that rather resembled the lark she'd been nicknamed after as a child. Only this time the lark was happy, and did sing.

Gwen had no idea how she ended up in this group, but she'd climbed out her window onto the Parkers' roof more than once to get some air, so this wasn't so bad. She was just being very careful in walking around, that's all.

As much as Alana swore her wings were useless, they really helped a girl's balance at times like this. She kept them partially unfurled as she worked near the edge of the roof, carefully placing bundles of straw where they were needed.

She was surprised to realize she was enjoying herself. The work itself wasn't what she'd call fun, but the view made up for it.

Four was not cut out for Amity at all, so he fought his fear of height to work on the roof instead of planting things and presumably singing along to banjo music.

Alex ended up in this group, which to be honest she didn't mind at all as she set about working. After all she had some experience in walking over rooftops back home.

Yesterday's work had left him pretty tired so Travis went for something a little lighter today. Of course, he didn't count on various farmers staring at his scar and asking him out it incessantly.

Apparently, one farmer told another who told another who told another that he'd gotten his head kicked off by a giant. Travis...didn't correct them because that was a cooler story than the actual one.

Johnny decided to work the plough today. Not the person plough, but the animal plough. Once he got a good grip, he yelled "FLAME ON!" and used his propulsion to pull the thing around.

If he could do stuff like this every day, he was just going to call himself the Johnny Combustion Engine.

Maybe it was hearing about this trip from someone who wasn't there, but the radio broadcast had left Kitty annoyed. So what if their accommodations weren't great if the people who lived with it all the time needed and wanted their help? It made her a lot more okay with where they were and was fueling her to work harder today. They'd put her to work on the fences, which was actually harder than she would have thought, but that was fine by her.

And if she was missing a certain giant Russian just being here, shut up, she was allowed.

Planting was something Minako could manage without falling off a roof, or hitting herself with a hammer or... well... fine. She was a klutz for anything that wasn't sports or dancing, but she could put seeds in the dirt just fine.

She was so totally happy that she'd packed a comfy pair of old overalls for the trip, and was happily up to her knees in dirt, singing to the plants and talking to the seedlings to encourage them to grow up big and strong.
