Rorikstead, Skyrim, Sunday Evening

Skyrim is cold. Bitterly cold. The village of Rorikstead lies close to the mountain range that separates Whiterun Hold from the Reach. While the temperatures here are considered temperate for Skyrim, there is still clear frost in the soil and an everpresent fog in the air. The village itself is made up of a collection of farmhouses and homes flanking a single road on both sides. Many of the homes are in a state of disrepair - some parts of them look downright singed.

Fandom's students and teachers will be warmly received by Mralki and his son Erik at the local Frostfruit Inn. It's much warmer inside, so hurry on in...

Frostfruit Inn - Rooms

The rooms of Frostfruit Inn are sparse, containing twin beds or a single queen for the students and the adults, a table and a dresser. Each room also contains a bowl of local fruits and vegetables, and is lit by wall sconces made of goat horn. Bathrooms... ...well, there's the communal hole-in-the-ground which is, mercifully, within the Inn itself, but any bathing will have to be done outside when it's light out.

If anything could take Anders' mind off the irritating book he was reading, the Frostfruit Inn could. First, because it was so much more similar to home than Fandom was that he had felt a pleasant sensation of familiarity as soon as he'd spotted the thatched roofs. And second, because he was sharing with Nathan for the first time, which had him pleasantly nervous.

He opened his bag and began to unpack, placing his mother's pillow on the bed before he did anything else. The fact there was only onebed would sink in soon enough.

Well, they hadn't been lying when they said pack for winter. As soon as he set foot in Skyrim, he'd started cursing a blue streak that didn't stop until he'd gotten into the room and on the bed. He was used to cold winters but man, this was cold.

He flopped gracefully onto the bed with his hood still up while his body warmed up. Apparently, they were going to be roughing it this fall break. All righty then.

Celia had really not quite expected this sort of accommodations, given the fact that her first trip with the school had been to a resort in Bali. But there were more important things to focus on. Such as who she was apparently rooming with.

And the fact that this room apparently had a single bed.

You could hardly spot Anakin under his hats, scarves and cloaks. Yes, he hadn't lived on Tatooine in decades, but he still hated the cold.

Joker sat down on the bed and looked around. "Well, this is... definitely an inn. Yep. I mean, this is the sort of inn where you'd expect to meet a wizard and go off on magical adventures. Or, you know, pick up bedbugs, dysentery, and a mild case of salmonella."

Kitty was trying not to be too crabby that she was still a guy, because they were on vacation and she had the week off not one but two jobs, and this place was kind of nice and quaint and cute, even if there wasn't much point in exploring the room.

Strangely enough, being a 16-year-old from New York meant that Gwen wasn't so used to places like this. And don't mind her if the first thing she did was take a picture for 'look what I got myself into' purposes when telling people back home.

Ugh, ugh, ugh. It was official: Fandom hated Mara by making her room with hot guys. It was especially egregious when she was currently a not-hot guy herself.

She unpacked her bag as quickly as she could, trying to avoid Face. Bad enough that Johnny and Barry knew about this.

Okay, yeah, this was just cool. Aside from just literally, even. The lack of internet was going to take some getting used to, sure, but that was a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. Scott dropped his stuff on one of the beds and then made a beeline for the bowl of fruit, snagging an apple before starting to go about the process of throwing his stuff in one of the draw-

Nobody had to tell Cecil more than even once to get inside! He didn't even mind the quaint rusticness of it all - hey, he'd been camping across (some version of) Europe! He could rough it.

You know, when it was above freezing.

Right now, he was just going to sit as close as he could to the first fire he could find!

Room 25

"It's coooooooooooooooooooooooooold," whined the not-currently-very-tiny hyper blonde who was bundled up in a coat. And hating it. Coats were stupid. "Why can't we go to the desert on vacation? I want to kill dragons but not anywhere this stupidly cold."

Things Rikku didn't mind very much: being a guy (temporary), being somewhere without indoor plumbing (it happened).

Things Rikku hated: the fact that being a guy seriously impacted her sex life (AT LEAST IT WAS ONLY TEMPORARY), and subzero temperatures (clearly just a conspiracy against sun-lovers everywhere).

Frosfruit Inn - Common Room

The large common room is the heart of Frostfruit Inn. On one side sits a bar, where you can order drinks and local delicacies from Mralki. There is a large fireplace at the center of the common room to keep everyone warm, while tables and chairs line the walls of the remaining real estate.

Barry settled in a corner and started reviewing some results on his experiments on his tablet.

He also had a USB charging device in case anyone needed to juice up any of their electronic devices.

Travis made his way over to the bar. He hadn't eaten breakfast this morning so his stomach was letting him know how bad an idea that was now. After some thought, he went with tomato soup since it'd warm him up and give him time to decide if he was adventurous enough to try some of the unfamiliar things on the menu.

Felicity who, thankfully, had stayed a girl was more than a little weirded out by their vacation destination. She was a city girl at heart so this whole old timey village thing really wasn't for her. But she guessed she had to make the most of it.

Making the most of it was apparently ordering food that looked like it came straight from the Ren Faire.

Aye, this place did look a bit more like what Edward was used to - though in some ways it was more old fashioned, and in others, more outlandish.

He wasn't certain what to make of it yet, but he also knew he didn't have to make nothing of it if he didn't want to. Because they had ale here, and ale made an awful lot of things better.

After he finished that third pint he was nursing, at any rate.

Rorikstead

There's not much to do in town at this time of night, and the draw of the settlement is largely the land it's set upon.

Cowflop Farm

There is Cowflop Farm, which seems to be missing part of its roof and most of its nearby plot of land has been scorched. Farmer Reldith is a kind but stern woman who's more than happy to sell you some produce if you want it.

Perhaps more interesting, though, are Reldith's stories about the dragon that attacked Rorikstead, and which continues to dwell somewhere in the neighborhood. So sit down, have a bowl of soup, and listen.

Grab a Torch and Go Beyond Rorikstead

There's a beautiful patch of tundra stretching out past Rorikstead. Not that you'll be able to see much of it, considering how dark it is. But hey, is there any kind of getaway more romantic than nighttime stargazing in a realm without light pollution?

Skyrim's sky is somewhat different than the one back home - it has two moons, for a start, and occasionally a beautiful aurora shows, painting green across the sky.

Question(s)! How, when, and where? Are we going to the river? Are there metal tubs? Why only when it's light out? Isn't it below freezing, anyway?
