Castello di Casole [Monday Evening, October 14, 2013]

The sun had fallen behind the horizon, but the lights around the estate were still on and its staff was still ready to look after your every whim - within reason. Here's your chance to dash back into town for a good party, or relax out in your room before you go to bed.

"Well, I had to make sure it wasn't Draino," he said like that explained it. "And I wanted to kick my liver in the ribs."

He sipped it and yeah, that felt a little better.

"What do you think?"

"It's good," she decided. "I mean, I'm definitely no expert but it doesn't taste like lighter fluid so I'm good with it."

"Yeah, me too." He took a few more sips and nodded. "I don't know if it's something I could drink all the time though. Coffee's more my game. And sometimes chocolate milk."

Don't be twelve, Riley.

"Props for admitting the chocolate milk thing," Kitty told him.

"What? It's good!" He thought so, at least. "It gets unfairly stereotyped as a kid's drink but I'm getting my calcium fill for the day. It's good for the body and the bones."

"I'm not judging, I'm just admiring you for admitting it." She was judging a little.

"Do you like chocolate milk?" Riley asked, taking another sip of the wine.

"Sure, but I can't tell you the last time I had it," she said.

"See, I would almost prefer that right now and you should get reacquainted," Riley decided, finishing his wine and making another face. "Because it's much better than whatever this is."

"You just broke a few Italians' hearts by saying that," Kitty tsked, taking another sip of her own wine.

"Yeah, but this just leaves more for them," Riley pointed out, trying to get the waiter's attention again. "I'm really not appreciating it so why waste it?"

"Well, if you ordered the bottle, they're probably going to make you pay for it," Kitty said.

"I know," he sighed, looking at the bottle. "Maybe I'll take it back to my room and give it to my roommate. He's kind of...stiff."

Well. Batman.

"Who's your roommate?" she asked.

"Batman," Riley said, ordering some chocolate milk after a few false starts getting the waiter to understand. "He sleeps standing up. In a corner of the room."

Huh.

"...On purpose?"

"I haven't actually asked him," Riley admitted, scratching his cheek. "But how can that be comfortable? I want to tell him he can use the bed but he's kind of..."

Scary.

"Scary."

"He's probably only doing it because he wants to show that he can," Kitty said. "So telling him probably wouldn't help."

"I'm afraid that I'm gonna wake up and he's gonna be standing over me," Riley admitted. "And then I might scream..."

Riley paused and cleared his throat. "...in a very not manly way."

"And yet still not as bad as my worst roommate," Kitty said. "Can you switch rooms?"

"Probably be too much trouble," Riley said, shrugging. "He's not hurting me. Just making me nervous."

Because Batman.

"Worst roommate?" he asked curiously.

"When I was at school I had a girl throw a dead rat on me while I was sleeping," she frowned. Freaking Morlocks. "So at least you don't have that!"

Riley made a face and shuddered.

"Ew. Gross." Okay, he could deal with creepy Batman if that didn't happen. "Yeah, that's definitely not a worry. I hope it's not. But ew. That's really gross."

"Last time I ever used that bedding," she said with a shudder.

"Yeah, I don't blame you," Riley said. He just knew that, after her story, he was going to check his bed for rats tonight. "You get any revenge?"
