Kargi Bay to Fethiye, Turkey, Friday Daytime

After breakfast, it was time for the gulets to take a relaxing sail to the town of Fethiye, population 68,000. This town is ripe for shopping and sightseeing, as well as an optional excursion to the gorge of Saklikent and the Blue Lagoon.

There was still some vacation left to be had, and with temperatures in the mid-80s, almost anything was possible.

"You better not," Victor said, some worry still in his green eyes. "I don't feel like finding out if I can carry you."

He was pretty sure he could, but carrying anybody a kilometer through water wasn't going to be fun, even for an android.

Emily shot him a strained smile. It was the best she could manage. "Okay, so it's been too long since I drank my weight on rum. I never did so well on birthdays?"

It would be a great anecdote! Or just a really embarrassing one.

Emily shrugged, suddenly feeling a bit better, if only emotionally. Just a bit. "Trust me, I won't. And it's the eighteenth," she said as her mood dropped again.

"I'm two entire weeks older than you," Victor told her mock-gravely. "They knew exactly what they were doing making me your big brother."

She gestured deeper into the gorge. "Ready to keep walking, or do you wanna sit down on those rocks for a while?"

"Oh, I hadn't noticed that. Cool," Emily said as she counted the days. Well, that wasn't her birthday, but for all that mattered they truly were two weeks apart. "If only you had told me all the crazy stuff in one go, making you explain them one by one has been a bit of a pain." It was teasing though, and it helped her get her mind out of her bad mood.

Emily looked at the rocks for a moment. "Nah, I could use the exercise."

It wasn't precisely his birthday either -- of the people who knew that, one was dead and the other was an evil robot who never even sent a card -- but it was the one he celebrated, and Victor figured that was what counted.

Victor laughed at the teasing. "I was just trying to make sure your head wouldn't explode," he offered. "Though if you're gonna drink that much rum, that might happen anyhow."

Well then, weren't they such a good sibling match? In a way, at least.

"It was just a one time thing, really." Well, it was open for debate, or at least it would if she were to share. "I will tell you when I need to sit down though; I don't think I could live through having you carry me anyway," Emily said as she started to walk again.

"So, enjoying this little trip?"

"Yeah," Victor nodded, beginning to slog forward through the water. "It's good, y'know? Get out of my head, out of my comfort zone ..."

He shrugged. "I haven't exactly traveled all that much."
