Gocek to Kargi Bay, Turkey [Thursday, February 28, 2013, daytime]

After breakfast (complete with strong Turkish coffee for those who might have overindulged at the club last night) we leave Göcek for Kargi Bay,a quiet picturesque location where we'll spend ample time swimming, snorkeling and wind surfing. This little bay, home of one of the best beaches on the peninsula, is a paradise for snorkeling fans and a haven of fish just waiting to be caught.

And eaten for lunch.

After radio, Jaye had had to get off the other boat, onto her own boat, and do it with a squirmy puppy in her arms the whole way. Which meant that she was apparently going to spend her day reuniting said squirmy puppy with its owners... wherever they were going, and look, she'd just be much happier if she could just say she'd been drunk all night and this is what happened but nooooo.

Don't mind her grumbling about stupid animals as she made her way back to her room.

Breakfast

Breakfast aboard the gulets is an elaborate affair. Large bowls filled with a salad comprised of tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and feta cheese sit on the center of the spread. Spread out around it are various Turkish cheeses such as beyaz peynir (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyaz_peynir) and kaşar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ka%C5%9Far); there is menemen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menemen_(food)) and bread as well as honey, jam, a local sausage known as sucuk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sucuk) and other local meats, and there's a nice tray full of pastries, too.

Victor was very smug, very happy, and not entirely awake. Which was why he appeared at breakfast with an entire magnetic haiku stuck to his upper arm and a magnetic daisy on his cheek.

Olive had made good on her threat.

He filled a plate with cheese, bread, sausage and honey, got some coffee, and tried to wake up the rest of the way.

On Shore

Kargi Bay is home to a strip of sand known locally as Camel Beach. You can walk towards the lighthouse that’s located at the north end of Kargı Bay, and make your way onto Yahşi end of the beach. If you're feeling especially brave or have a friend with a sadistic streak, take a camel ride along the beach from the three or so camels inexplicably on the beach in Turkey. Please do not steal the camels.

Snorkeling

You've probably gotten good at snorkeling by now! Grab you gear from your gulets and explore the fish found in Kargi Bay.

Windsurfing

The breezes inside the bay are perfect for trying out windsurfing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windsurfing)! Head up the beach, rent some equipment, and hit the water.
