Akumal Beach Resort - Wednesday

After what seemed like - and was - many hours of travel, the buses pulled up to a large brightly coloured complex beyond which could be seen a bright turquoise sea.

Maps and guides to the resort were handed out with building 4 circled on it.  No room numbers were given yet but the entire second floor facing the main pool was being used for the Fandom High guests.

As soon as everyone made their way off the buses, they were free to explore the resort, play on the beach or poolside, visit the restaurants and bars, or just lounge in their rooms and enjoy not being in the 'cold' any longer.

[OOC:  The resort is all-inclusive so food and drinks and activities are allowed.  I assume they use wristbands of different colours to designate those who are and are not of age to drink.  I also assume Fandom students are more than capable of figuring ways around that.  Just don't get thrown in jail.

Threads below are for a variety of activities, there will be a second post with the room assignments going up shortly so as not to over-OCD this one.  You can feel free to put up posts in your personal journals if you're doing specific things, in secluded coves, etc.

Also?  The beachside bar has swings instead of chairs.  This might be a reason this place was chosen.  Shh.

OCD IS UP!  Have FUN!]

"Tellycommute?" Yeah, Amber was lost on that one. She smiled and shook her head. "When I make it big I'm goin' to vacation here every year."

"Where are you from, Jack?"

"I'm from the West Coast, but I travel all over most summers. My dad's a trucker, and that's what I plan to be. Own and operate, have my own business," he said, slightly bouncing. "But I'm mostly from San Fransisco, so if you're ever out that way, look me up!"

"The tellycommute thing. Something involving computers and bunny slippers, from what I've heard." He shrugged.

"I've never been out west before. Maybe someday..." she said with a perky little nod of her head. "A trucker, eh? Yah, I betcha they see everythin' in their travels."

Amber cocked her head. "Yeah, I'm still lost there."

"Oh, you wouldn't believe what you'd see from up there. I mean, I've seen--"

And Jack started to blush, because he'd seen a few things that people didn't maybe want to be seen.

"You ever want to take a road trip out West, I'm your guy. Can point out the best places to eat all the way from Virginia to Frisco. Gotta swing by Georgia and get some pie, first." He grinned and nodded. "Georgia peach pie. It just tastes sweeter there."

Amber thought his blush was cute. Rarely did she see guys blushing. It was refreshing.

"I don't mean to get too personal, but I don't come from money, Jack. It's goin' to take time for me to travel to all these places."

"I'm not rich. Me and my dad, we're not rich, but...travel's part of the job. You want to see Maine? Eat some lobster fresh off the boat? Take a load up that way, stop off for a day or two, see the sights, get some grub, and see where else you want to go," he said, softly. His grin dimmed a little. "You don't get rich, but the travel's worth it. Pocket a bit, don't waste it, and you can live like a king. With a mobile castle," he said, with a wink. "Tell you what, if my dad swings by here, I'll talk him into a weekend trip. Maine lobster, Georgia peaches, drink from an Appalachian spring and see live gaters in Florida, if you want. Sky's the limit." He did the international is-this-seat-taken sign. Still a bit blushy.

"Really? You would offer that to me, just like that?" Amber asked, somewhat surprised.

"How do you know I'm not some crazy psycho stalker?" she teased, daring to grin.

"You seem like a nice person," he said. "And we kinda get to know the crazy people, from being out on the road. Though," he said, tilting his head and smiling a bit, "you are a blonde, and they're a bit of trouble."

He was a bit surprised, himself, that he invited her. Still, she hadn't turned him down...

Amber smiled wide at him. "Yah, I'm a nice person and where I'm from? The brunettes totally have me beat at causin' trouble."

She dug her toes through the sand, tilting her head to look at him. "I accept!"

"Great!" he said, flopping next to her, digging his toes in the sand. Sand. Not snow. This was great!

"Next time he's in town, then? We're on a road trip. Any idea where you want to go?" He mirrored her tilt and smiled. It would be a fun trip. "And you can tell me about those brunettes," he said with a wink.

"Oh my gosh, I would love to go to Glasgow, Kentucky. That's where Diane Sawyer was born you know. I love her and hope to become just like her one day," she answered with a grin.

"Really? Kentucky? It's not too far from here, you know." He was not picking up her accent. Just...the mannerisms, you know. "So she's pretty famous, then?"

Re: The Beach!

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"What? You've never heard of Diane Sawyer? She like one of the most famouse news journalists out there," Amber answered, incredulous. Who hasn't heard of Diane Sawyer, especially if you're from the states? "Yah, not too far but again, money issues."

[identity profile] inthereflexes.livejournal.com 2008-02-28 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh, I don't know how to say this, but... I'm from 1967." More blushy.

And he'd already said don't worry about the money. "My treat on the Kentucky, if you tell me about this Diane Sawyer and point out the sights."

"Oh wow. Now I get the hair," Amber said, looking at him. "But that's kind of cool right? Did you go through a hippi phase?"

She blushed. It was hard accepting stuff like that. "Okay, and I will tell you all about her on the way there but as far as pointin' out sights, well, I've never been there, so I don't know."

"A hippie phase?" He blinked. "Is that the 70s thing? I've heard of it. Never really got into that free love thing, though...I..." He faded away, kinda more pink. Pink like her blushing.

"We'll made a road trip. I'm sure we'll find something to see."
