Banyan Tree Resort, Seychelles, Thursday [Morning and Afternoon]

Hopefully, everyone had packed their things well and not left anything behind in South Africa, because it was time to explore Seychelles! The staff of the Banyan Tree were ready to help Fandom's visitors with anything they might need - including making sure everyone remembered their umbrellas, because while the morning was nice and clear with a temperature of 27C/80F, it was going to get up to 30C/86F later in the day, with possible thunderstorms.

But hey, there was a whole new resort to explore if the weather didn't fully cooperate!

Rather than stay and enjoy the peace of the villa she was staying in all day, Yeul had decided that another walk sounded lovely and could be found dreamily wandering the spice gardens.

Sometimes she hummed under the breath, other times she stopped to admire the plants.

Either way, she was happy.

It was calming here, and quiet.

And even Liara could only keep her head in the books for so long.

She had gone for a stroll herself, rubbing her hands together subconsciously, her eyes trailing over the plantlife and willing it to become something much more familiar.

Which it did, eventually. Just not in the way she'd expected. "Oh! Yeul!"

Yeul blinked, brought abruptly out of her reverie, and smiled when she spotted Liara. "Oh, hello!" she said, her smile widening. "How are you today? Isn’t it lovely here?"

Everything was so beautiful and calm and just wonderful as far as Yeul was concerned.

"It is very relaxing," Liara agreed earnestly. Surprise slowly made way for a smile on her face. "I have never seen many of these plants before." Beat. "Though I suppose that isn't much of a surprise."

"It is not," Yeul replied lightly. "Though not all of them are things I recognize either. Some are close but off enough that I would not wish to make a firm decision on what it was."

"Does the wildlife on your planet match that of Earth's at all?" Liara asked, interested.

"There are a few animals that appear to be quite similar," Yeul said thoughtfully. "But for the most part, no, they are not the same. What of your wildlife?"

"It is nothing like what I have seen here," Liara said. She reached over and touched the leaf of a large plant. "But some of the plants look almost similar... I feel as if, if I squinted, I could pretend this was Armali."

"Parts of the Yaschas Massif are alike here," Yeul said, smiling a little dreamily. "I wonder if it should make me homesick, rather than making me happy? How do you feel about it?"

"I thought I would not care, but I do," Liara admitted. "Yet I have never been a... homebody."

"Perhaps it is because everything is so different here?" Yeul suggested. "With nothing even remotely familiar, I think anyone would feel a longing for home."

"It does make sense." Liara let go of the leaf; even her motions were a little wistful. "My mother and I, we live opposite a park."

"I did," Liara said, smiling a little. "I used to dig for ruins in the sand."

"I don't suppose you ever found anything?" She shook her head, smiling. "Though I suspect that it was the searching that was fun in any case."

Liara actually laughed a little. "Not in an Armali park," she said, "But I did enjoy myself a great deal."

"That is what is important," Yeul said agreeably. "Would you be amendable to walking some of the gardens with me?"

"Have you been enjoying the days here?" Yeul asked as she set off on a slow walk. It was slow both because she never went anywhere fast, if she could help it, and because it was too gorgeous a garden to miss by speeding through it. It was the sort of day for taking the time to enjoy everything.

"It has been a new experience," Liara said, striding alongside Yeul. Occasionally her gaze would skitter to some of the plants, but not frequently. "I especially enjoyed the library at our previous hotel. It was very comprehensive. And yourself?"

"It has been quite nice," Yeul said, looking slightly amused. "The safaris were interesting, though I remain slightly baffled at the insistence on an escort. Professor Starsmore was put out with me when he found me out of bounds."

"Howso?" Liara wondered. "Perhaps he feared you would leave behind waste products, and... upset the local ecosystem?"

Yeul shook her head, laughing softly. “No,” she said, “nothing like that. He was concerned I would be hurt as the wildlife is dangerous.”

And Yeul was not exactly the sort that would defend herself.

Liara's people started learning how to use biotics when they were very, very young - the idea of getting wounded by Earth's wildlife seemed a little... well, silly.

"Oh," she said. "I am sorry. I didn't realize that was a risk."

"There is nothing to apologize for." At least, nothing that Yeul saw. "I considered the risks to be well worth the chance to walk the grounds freely, without being surrounded by others. Professor Starsmore disagreed."

Which he had been right to do, all things considered.
