Singita Boulders Lodge, South Africa, Monday [late afternoon into evening]

The sun was beginning to set on the second day at Singita Boulders Lodge. There was time for tea before the sunset game drive began, or you could contiue sunning yourself at the pool until dinner--it's your vacation, Fandom, enjoy it!

Each suite (http://www.africansafaritravel.com/site_images/accommodation/302-5.jpg) comes with a private, heated swimming pool, a double-sided fireplace, a private lounge, and a game-viewing deck. Yes, the animals come close enough to see from your rooms. No, you can't feed your roommate to a lion.

Okay, so this type of holiday accommodation was kind of made for Natalie. She didn't have to leave her private quarters (okay, not private as such, but Jace was better than random people) to see exotic things!

So she was spending her evening on the deck, leaning against the railing and seeing if she could spot anything interesting going on.

Yep, it's a thing in South Africa! Mmm, tea and tasty sandwiches.

Eat dinner outside under the stars (http://www.africa-adventure.com/dbimages/1864_singita_boulders_main_pool_lr_md.jpg) by the pool. Dinner service begins at 7:30pm, after the evening game drive returns. The menu is a fusion of pan-African, European and Asian flavor: tonight's special is a roast gembock fillet (pronounced "fill-it" here). A Shangaan choir (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuoptUIg1ik) provides evening entertainment.

Jim decided to take a break from the booze for awhile to have some dinner. He figured the booze would still be there later.

After sitting in the sun and swimming earlier, he'd showered and changed into something light and comfortable. With a nice plate of dinner in front of him, a drink of something cold nearby and the choir providing entertainment, Jim decided the second night of vacation was shaping up nicely.

Did Olive have the foggiest idea what a gembock was? Nope. And that was why she'd ordered it. She wasn't paying, and she wasn't afraid to try something new.

She'd taken a dip in her pool (fine, Marsie's and her pool) and changed into fresh clothes after the safari earlier, and now was relaxing at a table with a fancy -- and non-alcoholic -- drink. Look, she didn't know which wine to choose. Better skip it than get it wrong.

She wasn't often just...quiet, like this, though. For once, Olive actually felt sort of like an adult, and just let herself enjoy the choir's music and the prettiness around her.

Stacey of course had to be careful about what she ordered, and so she had to ask a few questions, but if she was on vacation she wanted to at least try something new. Hopefully she wasn't too annoying about it.

The choir was interesting...

Enjoy more of the 35,000 bottles of South African wine the lodge stocks, but don't stay up too late: the morning safari leaves at 6:30 AM tomorrow.

Well, April had been hard at work creeping on people for about five minutes, and she had come to the conclusion that yeah, she could pretty much drink here.

So that was what she was doing. That and using a fake accent to talk to the bartender for no real reason other than that it was fun.

Jackson felt like having a drink or two tonight. No real reason.

He'd be here for a while, with a beer, and his phone in hand. Texting Danny.

Because the wine last night had given him a hangover, Cade tonight chose to start with something that came in a fuzzy cheetah-print (http://www.creativeroots.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/wild_africa.jpg) bottle.

Nothing could go wrong with that plan, right?

Tony eyed the bottle for a moment before taking a seat. "Do I want to know?"

"It's fuzzy!" Cade said, making the bartender bring the bottle over so Tony could feel it. "And not bad over ice."

Atton was following up a day of partially-alcoholic drinking with a night of definitely-alcoholic drinking.

He could learn to live like this. Really. Just had to convince whoever was springing for this that he was better off living here for the rest of his life.

Jace figured he could nap through the safari tomorrow so he had no issue going to the bar tonight. As long as he didn't get obnoxiously drunk he figured Natalie wouldn't mind him stumbling around the room later.

Billy wasn't much of an alcohol person, but drinking foreign booze was part of the whole experience, right? Time would only tell if he'd feel that way in the morning.

The gym is open from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM, with a variety of gym equipment and treadmills to choose from. The spa (http://www.singita.com/images/documents/Spa_Menu_-_SSS_2011.pdf) offers a variety of treatments that can be administered in your suites or in the spa itself.

Sia generally told herself she didn't have time for pampering, but she was still feeling just time-lagged enough to decide that going for a massage might make her feel better, and relaxed instead of just tired.

No one else in her extended family would probably believe that someone with her genes would do this voluntarily.

The library is where you can check your email and borrow one of the lodge's books, offered in a variety of different languages. The library is open all the time.

Topher was down here by necessity, since, you know, internet. He was working on his project for Peter and occasionally muttering about how they should go visit penguins next time.

Penguins were way cooler than lions, guys. Come on.

Head back out into Kruger National Park (http://www.wildearth.tv/wildearth-safari-game-drive-africa-presenter-webcam-live-01) for a chance to see some of the animals before they turn in for the night. You'll get a snack (but not be the snack, an important distinction...) as the sun goes down, then travel back to the lodge under roughly a gazillion stars as you search for nocturnal animals as they begin their nights.

Alec didn't have anything against waking up early for an educational experience, but when he'd heard there was an evening option as well, he'd gladly gone for that one instead. He figured it wasn't as hot or as crowded this way, and as a bonus, that meant that were fewer people to see him be totally fascinated by some of the animals. Score.

Percy was more a water animal kind of guy but he couldn't help being curious about what he'd see on the safari.

The one in the morning had been too early for him so this was just perfect. He was just gonna sit back and enjoy and hope there were some good animals to see so his attention didn't wander too much.

So many boxes in my house.
